Including Yourself in a Treasury

I am a member of a team that is proposing a Partner Up Promotion. To participate you are to partner up with three other members, make Treasuries that contain all four participants in the top row....that would include your own shop.

Sounds like lots of fun but I am weary of "breaking Etsy's rules".

What is your feeling on this?

Excellent question! The treasury rules state the curator may include one of his or her items. If the treasury make front page, the curator's item will not be included because treasuries are not intended for self-promotion.

Typically though its customary to put your listing in the last slot though so others are viewed first.

I have never heard of this rule. My understanding was that you are not to include any of your own items.

There is no "rule" that you can't include your own items. It is discouraged, though, and if an Admin promotes your Treasury to the FP, your item will be removed, if they catch it.

I don't include my own stuff - I find that the more Treasuries I make, the more I'm included in, so it all evens out.

I agree with Erin. I was invited to the Partner Up "team" but honestly, I don't like being told who I can, or can't, put in my treasuries. Not everyone has aesthetically pleasing pictures.

Just make the treasuries and they will come :)

I think you can include your own items, but it limits your chances of being featured on the first page. If you dno't mind that part and you get a lot of views anyways, then I wouldn't see a problem with including something from your shop.

This was taken somewhat out of context. It refers to being chosen for the front page. The entire paragraph says:

Etsy's staff ("Admin") may promote whole or partial lists to the Handpicked Items featured on Etsy's home page. If you would like your list to be considered for the home page, here are some things to keep in mind:

Be diverse! No more than one item per shop.
Don't include your own items. Spread the love!
Make it beautiful.

I've goofed a couple of times and featured a shop more than once in a treasury. It makes me go "arrgghhh!" after I realize I've done it. I don't want to change it after it's all done because it looks so goood! I chalk it up to a learning lesson.
