Hi, Ashley:
I'm a semi-retired nurse-psychotherapist who first began to collect artisan lampwork beads just because I thought they were so beautiful, and finally filled my shelves so full I had to learn what to do with them. I had my first lesson in jewelry design in 2005 and found it so joyful that I've never stopped learning, designing and creating jewelry since then.
The name "Wild Woman Beads" came to me very early in the process, just an intuitive "knowing" that that's what I would one day call my business. I get names for my pieces just like that too. I'll be listing a bracelet or a pair of earrings, and suddenly they're "telling me" what they want to be called. I attribute that to years and years of right-brained intuitive work with clients.
I find inspiration in the beads themselves. I'll set a set of beads and just start to imagine how they would look if paired with this, or side by side with something else I have somewhere in that bead closet! I especially love to work with hand-wrapped fiber beads from artisan Jana Severin in Spain! She and I collaborate on a lot of my pieces.
I use the highest quality beads and components I can find because I want to be known as a designer of elegant, colorful, unique wearable jewelry art! I love what I do and want it to show in the pieces I create.
Here's just one of them now:
