I surrender! need help, please

Hi,

I need a shop critique. I've tried to be patient, and sort out all there is available for me to learn. I admit I like learning as I go, but now I need an outside opinion. I have tried changing info, changing tags, relisting, but sales are down. Granted I've been busy with some outside orders, but I need to crack down. I'm getting dizzy trying to read all the info from the teams I'm in, though extremely grateful.

Thank you

Hi there mudoftheages! First of all, your work is truly amazing. People like it when there are many items to choose from, and it also makes it easier for people to find you. Try editing your photos to make them brighter. Brightness attracts people, and also treasuries =). Good luck with your shop, and your feedback seems to be good, so I'm sure you'll get many more sales!

Your pottery is beautiful. I will include a piece the next time I work on Treasurys. Treasurys are always good exposure.

The only thing I see is maybe lightening your photos a little. They are a bit too dark. I have been doing that in my Shop. Now that the weather is good I am retaking them outside.

I like your ceramics too. The only thing I could suggest is if you do decide to brighten some of your photos, when you retake them consider adding some styling to them to show them in use. For instance, put salt crystals and coarse pepper in the salt/pepper bowls and tip one so some of the salt or pepper is spilling out. It would show how the item is used and add interest. Keep it simple though!

Re: I surrender! need help, please

I am seeing the light!

What others are saying here applies to many of my photos and many other shops that I see on Etsy in searches. I am going to start with using brightness / contrast adjustment in Photoshop to fix some of mine a bit right now and then work on retaking photos. If you have Photoshop that may be a way to quickly do a lot of photo adjustments right now.

Also, Etsy did put in place some image enhancements, but said they would not show up unless photos were reloaded. So I am realizing that if I do some lighting adjustments in Photoshop and reload photos, I might also get a boost from those new Etsy image enhancements too.

I think your pieces are wonderful. I agree with the others about the photography. It is good, just needs to be brighter! As you add more items it will attract more buyers.

Are there really new image enhancements on Etsy? That's great! I recommend Picnik.com as a great photo editing tool. Too bad you can't batch edit though!

I need to add more variety, but right now I'm sitting in as a substitute teacher in clay class. gotta go. thanks again, and if there's any more advice I'm very grateful.
