I need help!!

I haven't made a single sale at all. I'm getting about 40 views per day even when I work my butt off promoting my shop. I'm running out of money fast from my adds on facebook and etsy too. What else can I do?!

hi Camille - you're coming along with your shop, but I would title my jewelry with what it is, ie "blue beaded necklace" or "white feather earring"
you can have the creative titles follow the descriptive ones if you want.

I wouldn't push the ads, especially if they aren't working for you; instead, I would study up on seo.

Re: I need help!!

What in the world does that 'Warning you are in an extremely dope store Proceed with caution" mean? If that isn't hurting hour sales I don't know what is? It would scare me away. Also you need a lot of work on your tags and titles. They are not relevant. Fancy jewelry titles are the kiss of death when you are competing with four million pieces of jewelry. You have to title each piece the way a seller would search for it.. Nothing fancy unless you put it as the last words.

Re: I need help!!

Camille,

There are actually a lot of things you can do to improve your shop. You are off to a great start, now it is all about fine tuning it to get found by the right customers!

1. Prices. In my opinion, yours are too low. People associate low prices with poor quality.

2. You need a shop title that explains what you sell.

3. Your shop announcement should be filled with keywords shoppers would search for to find your items.

4. Your tags need help! You have: brown chain necklace touquise gold hot complete edgy chic wooden dishwasher like never before. You need: bead necklace, brown necklace, turquoise necklace, brown jewelry, etc. These are the words shoppers type into the search bar to find you. Here is a great SEO guide: http://www.etsy.com/storque/media/bunker/2009/09/Etsy_Sellers_Guide_to_SEO_Version_1.0_.pdf

5. Pictures. Keep them consistent. I like the ones on a wooden background. Keep them all the same.

6. Add more items! Add as many as you can.

7. Don't give up! It's a lot of work, but it can happen. Good luck!

Camille did you not notice that shop title? Am I wrong? I think it is offputting.

Re: I need help!!

also be patient! my shop was open for 2 months and 12 days before i made my 1st sale. another 3 months went by before my 2nd. build up your inventory and do things that make you feel good :) i believe in making more with less. look around your house and try to look at your things (especially but not only craft items) in a new way. ive come up with many very cool designs by finding ways to re use what i already have. you have great jewelry, and a good style :) positivity is contagious! i hope this helps you in some way

Re: I need help!!

Maybe hold off on promoting just yet. You'd be surprised at how much SEO work and photography can help. Also, jewelry is a very saturated category so you HAVE to have excellent photos and/or unique items to draw people in. Low prices probably won't attract the kind of customer you need. I'd devote more of your time to following some of the SEO and photography suggestions our teammates have given you and less to paying for any promotion. I've seen shops who get MANY sales through free social media networks like Facebook. They devote a lot of time to their business page and it pays off for them. Plus, it's free!

Your items definitely have a great personality and they WILL sell if you can put them in front of the right customers! Good luck to you :)

As for your shop announcement, I think you're interjecting some of your personality and it could work for you... just not in that space. Key words like necklaces, bracelets, bohemian jewelry, etc would do more good there for SEO. Save the personality for your profile, item descriptions, about page and customer interactions but don't get rid of it!

Just a quick look, reveals - it is spelled Spectacles, not specticals. Plus, no one is going to search for 'artzi shmartzi specticals".

You should also put measurements in your listing, those are important. With earrings you want to put what kind of metal the earwires are made out of, lots of people have specific metal allergies and won't purchase if they don't know what they're getting.

You might also want to consider selling internationally, lots of customers all over the world.
