How long would you guys say it takes to get that first sale? I realize my store is pretty new, but I promote it like crazy. I have played with my photos, I have written my policies, I have played with my keywords, and I have even upped my prices after reading how too low of ones could actually be hurting me.

I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? Do I just promote promote promote now? I really don't want to invest too much into this if it just isn't going to work = /.

Hi Stephanie - Your Necklaces are Gorgeous! Here's a bit of advice....
You need at least two pages worth of stock for people to hang around and look...then hopefully buy.
Increase your circles, and favorite lots of items (make sure you really do like them, don't just fake it) this will give you more exposure.
Lastly - Keep up those photographs with the white background, that will make you versatile for people to include you in Treasuries ( I use timber background, which works nicely too).

Cute shop. It takes a while to get you first sale. Also If you can add more items to your shop. You have less than a page of items. If someone is doing a search they are searching thousands on here so the more you have the more you will come up in searches.

1. I would work on putting more products in my shop.
2. Join some teams and they help with getting your new things out there.
3. You have to have a little patience. I have heard some people have been here 6 months before recieving their first sale. Also I think once school is back then maybe the season will begin for Christmas with more shoppers.

Take heart we have all been in the same boat. I started my shop right before Christmas so missed the Christmas rush. Hoping this year brings in sales!

Thanks. I also plan to put up some tile coasters too. I don't know if that is too random of jump from the necklaces, but so far they are the two things I have found to make that I rather enjoy making.

I think it took me about four months before I got my first sale, I've only just started networking on Etsy and certainly noticed an increase in attention.
Tina's advice above seems faultless; just keep at it and good luck.

You have lovely items, and like most people have said you need more items.
What really helps me is networking and marketing on these
Facebook fan page - share your latest necklaces etc, share news, build up a following
Twitter - i have had sales via there but engaging with people, sharing links, being part of a creative community on there
Flicker and pinterest

also get ready for christmas am sure you will see your sales come once the holiday shopping starts
most importantly hang in there, have faith in what you do and have patience

Heidi said it well.....getting your shop ready is only 50% of the work...
the other 50% is social media promotion....

if you would like a great shop critique....join the Sassy team...they will let you know if you need to change anything...

but you need facebook (or google+) , twitter, pinterest, and rebel mouse is working for alot of people

promotion has to be focused in order for it to work--you need to know who your target market is and the more specific you can be about that the better targeted your promotion will be.

as others have mentioned, adding more to your shop helps as well. back in the day you could open with just a few items and have sales here but these days you're just getting lost in the crowd.

think about how potential customers will search for items like yours and experiment using different search words and phrases to see how you come up in searches

it takes a while sometimes but just keep working in a positive way ;-)

also, i just saw you do not describe your shop or items in your announcement--it's lovely to know your items are made with care by you but that is doing nothing to help you be found.

look at some other announcements and see how other shop owners are using keywords throughout their announcement to reinforce the types of items they sell

also, you can use that line under your shop title to describe what you sell--you don't have to repeat the shop name ;-)

The advice that was given to me is that I should have more models wearing my items, so perhaps you could have a picture of people wearing your items on each listing. Get pictures of your items real close so we can see the details.
