I am a bit confused and somewhat overwhelmed

I have gone and rearranged my tags and titles thanks to the advice of forum folks.

Then I read about this team and thought this is the place we should be and concentrate on making our shop more visible. Two sales since we opened in mid March. We get between 75 and 100 +/- views in the stats a few from google.com. I understand that's good. But when I go to search on Etsy our shop is just not coming up. We are patient and know that jewelry of any kind is overly saturated.

I need some examples of what I should be doing. I think it's a combination of tags and titles but I'm not sure how to correct it.

You have to have the same EXACT phrases in both titles and tags. If "Seed Bead Bracelet" is in your title then by golly, it had better be in your tags too exactly like that "seed bead bracelet".

Use only tags that are phrases shoppers would type into search bar to find you.

Re: I am a bit confused and somewhat overwhelmed

Hi, and welcome. Your views are not that low. You only have 48 items, you will get more views, the more items you have. My personal shop goal is one view to the amount of items in my shop. Since I have 69 items in my shop, I expect at least 69 views. I normally get about 100.
Looking at this item, I will give you examples. Your title is okay and the tags aren't bad either. They just need to be more like each other and have a variety if words. They should also have multi words that customers will use together. You have multi words. I group my title in three word combinations, which works nicely.
http://www.etsy.com/listing/156089528/southwestern-style-peyote-beaded?ref=shop_home_active
Title:
Southwestern Beaded Bracelet, South West Cuff, Blue Bead Bracelet, Beaded Wrist Band, Red and Blue
Tags: made of all the same words
southwestern
beaded bracelet
south west cuff
blue bracelet
bead bracelet
beaded wrist band
red and blue
---- Then using the same/similar words create the remaining tags.
bead accessory
southwestern cuff
red wrist cuff
cuff accessories
beaded design
etc...

When I searched "southwestern style peyote" your item came up first, item one on page one. So the title is working.

You some great ideas and a good start, just some tweaking to do.
Have Fun!

Re: I am a bit confused and somewhat overwhelmed

Hi, does that mean my tags should be less than 20 characters? For instance my first listing is for red mushrooms moss garden. If I split that into red mushroom, and moss garden in my tags, will that work?
Cheers

Journey,
Your tags do have to be 20 characters or less. What you described is exactly what I do. You can also use any other combination of those words. I like to keep the same ones together as long as it makes sense. If I have extra room for tags, I switch the words around to create more tags.

Jenni I cannot thank you enough. What you say makes perfect sense. I'm glad I was on the right track but you can be easily derailed if you get just a bit lazy. Thanks for your input it will help loads.

Re: I am a bit confused and somewhat overwhelmed

You're welcome. Once you have the hang of it, it's super easy. Once you think of a good title, you already have most of your tags. Easy!

Oh yeah, vary each title. Don't call every item the same thing. More ways for your shop to be found.

Convo me if you ever need anything.

I do recall someone saying copy and pasting the same titles is a really bad idea. Thanks again. Oh and have spent time in Mt Dora ;). Friend lives there.

Re: I am a bit confused and somewhat overwhelmed

Christine,
Can you please be more specific?

Quote from the CindyLouWhoTeam.
"If you want to be relevant for the search “abalone earrings”, then you need to have the exact phrase “abalone earrings” in your title AND on a tag. Both places."

Re: I am a bit confused and somewhat overwhelmed

Christine I too am confused by your message. And let me explain why.

After the information and advise I got from jenni I went and changed several of my tags and titles. That's a lot of work. But guess what it paid off because I woke this a.m. To an order AND three inquiries for custom pieces.

Love to hear your reply.

jenni thanks!!!

I also recommend that team, I was once a member. There is a ton of great information. Even if you don't join you can read through some of the threads. I'd never want to confuse or misinform anyone.
Another quote from the team:
"start with the terms you used in the title. Remember, the search terms themselves must be in the exact same order as the title to be relevant for that search"

Tombstone,
Congrats on the sale and requests! That's awesome. Glad to hear you came to my town, small but pretty.

Another question about titles. Is it true that Google does not pick up titles if words are separated by commas?

Re: I am a bit confused and somewhat overwhelmed

That is totally false. You can use any type of punctuation you want as long as you leave a space after the punctuation. If you do not leave a space then Google will read the words as one long word.

For example, "blue and red bracelet, green accents" is read by google as "blue and red bracelet green accents." Whereas "blue and red bracelet, green accents" is read by google as "blue and red braceletgreenaccents."

I would recommend the SEO & Relevancy Team for All Etsy Shops and the Helpful Relevancy Team.
