Hundered views without buys, help!

I have a few corkboards in my store that have more than 100 views, but no buys. Any advice? I'm 1 month in business, and I know I need to be patient, but I am wondering if my photos need improved, if my prices are off? My shipping prices need to be high due to the large sizes of the boxes required to ship. Any advice please? I don't get easily offended, so I'll take anything!! Thanks!!

One of my items recently sold - after many months - after receiving over 900 views and making it to the Front Page. So, sometimes it just takes some patience and the right person to stumble across your work. :)

I agree about SaSssy critiques, great team to join, but also upon just clicking on your shop the first thing that struck me was that you have these pretty, girly, vintage-y items but the font on the banner seems very sterile and not really fitting with the style of the shop. I would change this to a more feminine looking font maybe to keep a consistent brand image.

(i know this sounds like a weird thing to critique but these things really do have an impact on buyers weirdly...)

Your cork boards are really cute, in some of your thumbnails it is difficult to see what they are though. The pictures seem a little too close up. Also, I would suggest using all of the pictures you are allowe to upolad, possibly using different props in some of the pictures...show the versatility of your product! Jewelery, kitchen, office, work...

We would suggest changing your shop announcement ( the words right under your banner, as seen in your public shop.) You want search engines and thus, customers, to be able to find you.

You are using up that precious space in the first sentence (that is where the search engines look) with words that nobody will type in when searching for corkboards. In fact, corkboard does even appear until the third sentence.

Craft a first sentence that includes words like corkboard, bulletin board, shadowbox and any other words that describe your products.

I have items with over 1500 views that have been sitting in my store since I opened and I have sold items that I just listed. I don't think you should worry about the views that an item has. Shipping for my diaper cakes is also high because of the weight but if people want it, they will be willing to pay the shipping. I was six months out before I started having sales so don't worry. Have you started a facebook fan page? That can increase your exposure.

I would agree with more pictures, from further back so you can see what it would look like in a room, maybe set up some props, a table under the board , flowers etc so It looks how it would look in someone's home
They do look nice and the prices are reasonable

I absolutely see now how the thumbnails in particular don't show off the product at all, and the photos are too dark. Will reshoot and restage my photos. Thank you all for your great advice!

When I had a website off Etsy, I got a sale for every hundred views so I was surprised that Etsy takes more than that - but it does sometimes. I think here we have other sellers looking at our stuff and treasuries and all of that so it's more than potential buyers who create views.

Just as a thought, show something on the boards, how to use them. Also, for the first picture try to show the whole board, they are very, very pretty. Maybe show them on a wall. The price might be a bit high....but then again, they are very, very pretty...so it is worth it:-)

Sassy Critique helped me tremendously!! I'm so glad it was recommended to me. Getting an objective eye from an experienced seller is priceless! I need to work on staging this week for sure to show how the corkboards can be used. Thanks, Mary, for your nice words. I am wondering too if the prices are turning people away from buying, but I honestly don't mark up much, since I'm new and want to sell. The shipping is high due to the large boxes I need, but the corkboards themselves are just costly to make well.

I would definitely want to know why a framed corkboard would be $80 and $30 shipping- I have sold similar items covered with velvet for $25. Tell your customers why they are so expensive and why they are worth it! If you can't, you might have them priced too high. Some good advice in this thread- I will use some of it myself! I've had hundreds of looks and just had my first buy yesterday. Am going to take better pictures when I get a chance but I feel your pain.

Agreed, AVelvetLeaf, thanks to everyone for the great advice! I don't know how you managed those $25 items, because my frames, fabrics, and supplies are way higher than that at cost. And I don't make anything off of shipping. But it's interesting to have the feedback.

I thought your corkboards were really cute, but $20.00 shipping really turned me off. Is there any way to reduce that to at least $18? Because then it doesn't seem so bad. Other than that I love the corkboards!
