How to start again after a break?

My shop was closed due to my illness for 2 months. After the new year I have opened it again. I am noticing lower views if I compare them with the last year. I remember how much time I have spent a year ago to promote my shop at its opening. I can not imagine to do that once again.

How did you manage to get your customer back after a break? I have also noticed that new shops with similar products appear each month.

Likewise, I noticed that, after being closed for a month in Aug, and then 5 days in early Dec, views/sales are lower for a period of time. But things eventually pick up just like before. I never did anything different...and I don't spend time promoting.

I think the biggest thing for you to make headway would be to list more items. You only have 37. The more items you have listed, the more opportunity to be found. I may suggest varying your titles a bit more. Many start with "real flower...: Also, brainstorm and try to come up with a few more items that are totally different than what you already make. How about a fan pull? Or an ornament? Or small decorative pictures? By doing this, you break into totally new areas for exposure (and have many new tags to explore). Again - more ways to be found. I've found these 2 things to be the key to my success. Maybe they can work for you.

I wish you all the best! Your work is beautiful.

Re: How to start again after a break?

I'm struggling with the same issue. I closed my shop for a few months back and then reopened at the end of October. Everything was a little slower than it had been prior to closing. But I just picked up where I left off on promoting. I don't go crazy, but I am on Twitter and Facebook. And I completely agree with Kelly, the more items I have listed the more views I get and more sales. Hang in there!! Best wishes to you!!

Hello Mirjam - from the USA to Slovenia :)

I agree with Kelly - adding more items is the best way to kick start your sales again. The more items you have listed, the more opportunities there are for your shop to be discovered. I also noticed you have not added an "about" page for your shop yet. Why not take a little time to do so while sales are slow? I think it can be a great way to show others what is unique about you and your work. Maybe include a photo of your town in Slovenia. Best of luck and happy new year!

Re: How to start again after a break?

I closed my shop in August for a week (partner had emergency heart surgery) and again in December when I was in hospital for a couple of weeks.

In each case when I reopened I simply renewed the listings that had expired and started getting sales right away again.

I work on my marketing year round so people are always coming to the shop.

Re: How to start again after a break?

Whenever I close my shop for vacations, I do notice a drop in sales for the first few weeks after I open again. Things will pick up again though!! Promise :) Just use this time to list new items!!
