How to increase traffic and sales?

I haven't been open long but was just wondering if there was any way in which I could increase the amount of traffic to my shop/products. How long do you reckon until I will get my first sale? I was thinking it will probably take a couple of months - does that sound right?

Also if you have time, how do you think I could improve me shop and/or products? I'm new to all this and I don't know if what I'm doing is right...

Thanks in advance!

Getting traffic to your shop and becoming a successful seller take a lot of talent, hard work and dedication. (And more than 5 listings...)

First you want to read up on all the information that is already out there:

Wishing you many sales!

Re: How to increase traffic and sales?

Hello and welcome to Etsy.

I think maybe Twitter (which I see on your shop already), FB, Pinterest and any other free social media are a good start to get you 'out there' as you have nothing to lose.

Joining teams and playing the 'games' such as list 1 fav 5 items above yours, and like the above have mentioned, you need more items.

Also, your items have to jump out at the customer - images work better than words; it's easier to do with some products than others. Maybe with yours you could some how add some colour to you photographs to make them 'pop'? I don't mean to the items, just the photo - maybe something in Photoshop?

Sorry I can't be of more help but good luck! It takes a lot of hard work, frustration and sometimes maybe even tears to get these shops working. :)

In my humble opinion playing those 'games' is a big waste of time.
Instead you want to make yourself a marketing plan on how to reach your target customers (online and offline).
Same goes for social media sites: they only work if you are able to reach your target market.

Social media sites are good. You can wow people with pictures on Instagram and have a link to your etsy shop. I was a graphic designer in a former life lol so i designed some business and flyers to leave at local hot spots/my gym etc.

So I just took a look at your shop. You have some nice planners there but I think you need to showcase them more. Print them out and place them in a real book/binder so show people how to use them. I know sounds dumb right but people like visuals.

I like your "about" page. I like those photos. Do you have Instagram?

Re: How to increase traffic and sales?

If you're interested in selling to an international audience, you might need to offer other options besides A4 or A5 for printing. Many U.S. folks won't know what those sizes mean. It's more common here to express sizes like 8 1/2 x 11 [inches] for paper downloads that can be printed.

Definitely keep adding listings (just spotted you're from the UK like me!) and slowly building, and I find networking helpful simply because if you are quiet, it can make you look busier/more in demand so then you're more attractive to potential customers, if that makes any sense!

Re: How to increase traffic and sales?

I make sure that I post something each day.
I participate in teams, and make favorites as well as treasuries.
I am on all major social media sites as well.

I'd be grateful for any help on this too. I'm a total novice and I'm still getting to grips with etsy x

You photographs are great. I would find a way to make each product look different in your listings - maybe a different color background on the labels at the bottom of the main photo? it just looks all the same and I had to take a hard look to see that these were different items. Good luck!

Re: How to increase traffic and sales?

Add more items to your shop! It's hard to be found on etsy with only a few items. As you add more items, make sure to change your pictures a bit. You wouldn't want your entire shop to look like you are selling the same thing over and over (a bit how it looks now at first glance).

I wouldn't spend a lot of time on social media trying to drum up business (I never use it). At least at first, your time will be best spent generating new products. More products, more tags, more ways to be found.
