How to get my shop to stand out more?

Began my shop a couple months ago and have gotten three sales from Etsy (the rest were friends and family). My understanding is that jewelry is a saturated market so what do you all think I should do to help my shop stand out? Do you all think my prices are too low/high?

I know that some of my photos need a little work - I've retaken a bunch now that we have had some sunny weather in Massachusetts and they look like they've come out well and bright.

One thing I have to say -- if I had to be dependent on the weather to get my photos looking good, I'd have gone out of business a long time ago!

There are many programs available to brighten photos. I use Photoshop, but there are free/cheap ones that other folks can tell you about.

I do have access to photoshop, but even with editing the photos, they still don't come out as good as in natural light. Maybe I'm just bad at it.

In regards to lighting, this one is perfect!

I really like that background, it makes it look really cute, not distracting, but not to plain.

Really all I do is tweak the exposure and color saturation. It helps to have a good indoor photo setup, too, because there is a point at which a dark photo can't be helped while still keeping colors true.

I know there are lots of ideas for photo setups here on Etsy, or just Google it. Hopefully someone has a quick link. I don't have energy right now to search for them myself.

OK, yeah that was with natural light. Many of the photos I took for other items were in the same spot on the same day so that should be good.

My biggest concern is that the kind of jewelry I make just isn't what people are interested in. What do you all think?

I find getting the right photo the hardest part too, I can make something that look amazing but then taking a photo of it, it makes it look not so good!

I think it just boils down to trial and error!

Wish I could help with your jewelry question ... I rarely wear or buy it.

Hi, does anyone have more comments on whether or not people will buy the jewelry?

Re: How to get my shop to stand out more?

Hi Jen! I have to say, I really like your page. The banner is unique and clear, and I think that the photos are all attractive too. Personally, I don't wear a lot of jewelry BUT my question is who is your targeted demographic? I got the feel from your page that is was a youthful, hip style, and some of the pieces fell into (my impression) if what that is. I hearted a bunch of the pieces, those were the ones that felt more contemporary and unique to me. Some of the others though, maybe felt a little heavy, or unoriginal? Such as

https://www.etsy.com/listing/214984935/mookaite-bracelet-beaded-gemstone?ref=shop_home_active_24

Not bad- but perhaps a piece that could be found on many other pages. but them you have a piece like this !

https://www.etsy.com/listing/210248689/biwa-pearl-necklace-agate-necklace-onyx?ref=shop_home_active_...

Which even though I dont wear a lot of statement pieces, makes me wish i had a scoop neck black top. As a potential buyer, I also really like to see a piece of jewelry on a body to see how it sits, moves etc. I know its not the most convenient but even if you don't show a whole face or head its a nice way to get a sense of scale.
I also only opened my shop in Oct. but my activity and sales have clicked up as I became much more active on these favoriting and hearting threads. I resisted at first but now through them i get between 150 and 200 viewings a day, and some of them are actual buyers. You can see the groups I am a part of and consider joining for lots of collaborative promotion.
I hear you on the photos, I just did a big shoot and the light wasnt quite right and editing them too much looks phony. Thats what I got! I hope it helps, and good luck!
Sam

Re: How to get my shop to stand out more?

You have some really beautiful and unique pieces! You should start getting more sales! Prices seem appropriate. I think it would be helpful to show the pieces on a model, the scale is difficult to judge by looking at them flat or even on a form. I would like to know the length of the necklaces. Work on fleshing out the descriptions a bit.

Nice work!

Oops you do have the length, descriptions look good. Keep working on those pictures, they are a constant struggle!

OK, thank you all very much for your suggestions. I think the next steps are to model some of the more unique pieces.
