How to find balance?

I love love love working on improving my etsy shop and creating new items to sell however, I feel like Im having a hard time finding the balance between working my full time job and trying to keep up with my shop. I have heard that you should list something everyday, I don't think personally that is possible, however will that affect my chances of selling on etsy? I wouldn't mind getting a few pointers from people who know how to promote and sell on etsy.

Re: How to find balance?

I have a very similar situation, my sister and I both work full time jobs and run our Etsy shop on the side, and since our items do take a fair amount of time to make, it's just not possible for us to post every day. However there are lots of other things you can do every day to bring views to your shop. Be active on your Facebook page/twitter/etc., post photos of your work, your workspace, and yourself to your Facebook page everyday. You can join a treasury team, or just make treasuries on your own. Featuring others in treasuries will draw them to look at your shop. Also being active in team forums like this one is a great way to get yourself seen without needing to post an item every day.

Hope this helps a bit,
Mandy

Re: How to find balance?

Mandy- great suggestions. FrancesAndManCrafts - I would also add using statsy, which is a free etsy listing service. You can schedule which listings for what times you'd like them to renew. Also, there is uncle gravy's listing agent which is a program you download. You can set it up to renew after a certain amount of time, or a certain amount of clicks. Your computer has to be on though, and has to be connected to the internet at all times to work. Personally, I prefer statsy.
I agree that it's very hard to sell on etsy. I'm contemplating whether it's worth the time invested.
Your shop looks great though!

Re: How to find balance?

I'm pretty new here, but I can definitely say that the difference in sales between about a week ago, when I was listing several days in a row, working on tresuries, posting in forums, etc I had several sales in a row. I was getting daily sales or even two sales a day, which is good I think for a new shop.

This week, I have been busy and have only made one sale. I think that will just be the way it is, some weeks will be better than others, and if you have the time to promote yourself and your shop, do it as often as you can.
