How to deal with rude people in convos

It's hard to tell the inflection of peoples voices in typed messages... but sometimes it's just blatantly obvious someone is being mean.. How do you approach someone in a business-like fashion and tell them that there's no need to be rude, without possibly coming across as a "witch with a B"....??

Either don't respond, or take the high-road: "I'm sorry you feel that way. It is apparent I am not the right choice for your business. Have a nice day."

I usually respond by clearly stating very strict shop policies... that does the trick usually !

Even if my temper flares, I still take the high road and don't engage in an arguement. I politely stand my ground and choose my words carefully.

Anne - I will try that too
Nicolette - That's my general policy, I'm a southern girl and my parents raised me to be nice to everyone, even if they're not nice to you.. which can be pretty hard sometimes cause people can be really mean... :(

I had someone tell me what THEY wanted to pay for a certain item I make..which I thought was very rude...but I don't think they knew they were doing so. Some people just don't know how to speak..or type, for that matter.

Whatever it is, just let them know you don't need their opinion or their money and turn their business away with something like Karly said - just make it fit to your situation.

I had this customer that was being rude via convos and wanted me to make custom order for her. I saw that there is no way I can make this lady happy, so I overpriced the item and she went away as I hoped....I just wish rude people stay away from my shop!!

That is funny Eva, because that is just what I did today. This customer is all of the above complaints....rude without knowing, demanding what she'll pay and threatening not to order if my price is not a good deal....and she wants everything custom. I priced everything very reasonably but higher than I know she'll want so I hope she goes away too! I feel better now!
