How to create custom listing

Does anyone know how to create a custom listing that I won't have to list it live on my shop? I did this before, but had to temporarily list it live in my shop until the client made the purchase. It does show that listing as being Sold Out and I don't know if there are any benefits to that.

Hi, Kathy, beautiful work!! I have only been able to make confidential listings when someone asked for one by clicking on request custom item feature. Then there is a bar at the top of the conversation when I open it that helped me through the process of creating a private listing.

Hmmm. I'm not sure if there is a way to keep the custom listing private or not other than the request custom item (as Bev said).

I keep a custom listings section in my shop that is usually empty, except when I have a custom listing for a customer. That way people know its not for them. I do find that sometimes people are curious and click through anyway, but I figure that can't hurt as the real customer's user name is on the listing. Plus when people see what other people are buying maybe it will give them ideas of their own and more sales can be made from that - wishful thinking!

I'll stick with how I did it before, which worked fine. I just wondered if there was a different way.
