How to Find your Target Market

On the ever important subject of promoting your shop I am wondering how you go about finding and communicating with your target market?

As we all know publicity all takes time, so it seems to me important that our energy is focused on talking to our target customers and not just the world in general / anyone who will listen.

Whilst I have a good idea of who my target customers are I am still working out how to reach out to them.

For your shop how do you find your target customers and how do you talk to them?

Re: How to Find your Target Market

I love getting to know other jewelry shop owners on here.
I follow them on twitter, and retweet/reply to their posts that interest me.

Or I will message them on here via etsy if I find a shop I completely adore, I will let them know that and what I love about their shop and items.
This is a great way to get to know others with the same interest and get the conversation started.

Facebook is another way, an easier way I feel than twitter to communicate with others who share a passion in the same hobby.

I also have a blog, and I pride myself on always replying to comments that are left and actually reading them. This lets my readers know that I am real and I do see their comments! :)

Jeanna great ideas. I like the idea of messaging shops that you particularly like. There are several shops that I love and go back to on a regular basis. It would be great to tell them how much I admire their work.
