How soon to cancel sale for non-payment?

A buyer purchased a seasonal item and checked "money order" as the form of payment on December 3. I have received neither money order or any communication. I've emailed to see if she's sent it, but heard nothing. Is it too soon to cancel? I'd love to get the item back on the market before it's too late.

In your experience, do people who do not communicate actually send in their payments, or is it hopeless?

You don't say how far away your buyer lives but if she mailed the money order first class it may take 5 business days. She probably had to get the money order the next day (or maybe after payday...) so it's probably too soon to cancel.

I'm checking my settings to make sure I don't accept money orders now. I haven't had to cancel anything but I did have a couple custom orders go south. I found with them that lack of communication = loss of interest.

Have you tried using both convos and emails? some people don't check their etsy account for messages and may not have the notice turned on to get them in their email. I would send one more saying if you do not hear back by xxxx then the order will be canceled and put back up for sale.

Okay, thanks for the tips! I've just emailed her actual email address, and I'll give her a few more days.
