How often do you list?

I can't imagine I'm the first to ask this, but I didn't find a thread recently with it. Please forgive me if you've answered this already a dozen times.

How often do you list? I know it's great to list everyday, and for the most part I'm able to. I have missed 3 days recently and I just went to the back of the store and renewed an item for each of those day. In the long run though, I don't think I can keep up this pace of one new listing a day.

Can you stay 'on top' of the market only listing a few times a week?

Hmmmm....maybe that's my problem. I don't list daily. I've got plenty of stock, but I'm behind in my photography. (It has been cloudy here and I don't have a light box.)

I usually list in batches, because I only have daylight in the weekends to take photos. Once I have the photos I spend the rest of the week in my spare time crafting and listing items!

I try to list every day. I'll take a big batch of photographs, and then do a little editing every day so that I can post something new on a daily basis. It would take too long to edit that many pictures anyway, I have to have time for my bead work, bird and cat, in that order!!!! However, I am fortunate because I have a studio light and background so I can take pix any time. If you're having trouble with not getting enough of the proper kind of daylight for your photos, try to go to Amazon and plunk down a few bucks for a light and lightbox - or build your own. It will change the entire way you take pictures, at least it did for me.

I started out with the goal of listing every day but the last week I was creating an item then having it up on etsy the same day. Since I have a part time job there is no way I can keep this up. I have heard many people listing one item every weekday. This seems like a more reasonable goal, most of my views tends to be on weekdays anyway. I do not think there is any particular formula as long as you are posting as many high quality items as frequently as you can, set your own goal/pace for item listings.

I list a couple of times a week, cannot do it daily because I have a fulltime day job. Mainly I create new items on weekend, probably at most three items a weekend.

But I have heard that listing an item each day is better than listing multiple items a day to get a stable exposure, so I am trying to shift myself to spreading out the new listings during the week, even if I made multiple items over the weekend.

Since new year I gave myself a goal of having 50 items in my shop by end of month. I was heading there at beginning of month but have slowed down a lot. Listed two things today but when I was listing things more frequently I had a lot more views.

I've been trying to list or relist something everyday. Supposedly it keeps your shop at the top of the searches.

Something that I discovered works well for me. When I have time I put together a number of listings that have pictures and text ready to go, then I post them on Etsy.... but as Draft Listings. That way I can just click Publish on one each day and it just takes a second.

I try to list or renew every week day, but most of my items take time to make so I could never keep up with listing something new everyday. My views also seem to be higher during the week so I concentrate on doing the listing then. I seem to get the most views when I do treasuries so I try to do at least 2 of them a week. Whew....makes me tired just thinking about all of this. :)

I try to list every few days. Because my product is made from repurposed supplies sometimes it takes a while to gather enough for a project ( that's the fun part for me!) my views are steadily between 100-200 a day doing that. I am also spending some time on the computer( the not so fun part) getting some exposure on sites to promote my store and work on my blog. I actually have enjoyed the blogging thing.

Great advice about putting the listings in as drafts and then publishing one a day! I have struggled with listing each day because I too work full time and can't spend 100% of off days at computer.

Will try to use that option in the future to be able to put together a better schedule to list. I find when I do list an item a day it tends to increase views.

I try to list weekly, but I will try to list more in the future. I have many many idea's for my jewelry, only I have to catch time and nice pictures lol.

@Pamela-Where in the Stats can you find the geographical and time zone info?? I've been wondering the same thing and have never been able to figure it out.

I try to list at least a few new cards 3-4 times a week. I do have a stack that aren't listed and it's simply because I'm lazy. LOL!

You have a very cute shop, will have to visit again and take a closer look. I am sure posting a new item as often as you can is the most beneficial. However, setting a reasonable goal for yourself probably would work best. It depends on your circumstances, how long does it take to create, take pictures and then post. I have struggled with the consistent new postings myself. Just do the best you can and remember to have fun...

I try and list at least 4 or 5 things a week. If I find that I'm going more than a day or two between new listings than I will renew a few things. I also like to stay a few days ahead of myself. I will take pictures all at once and then even try and pick the pictures, edit them and draft list it all right away. It takes time and can be a pain but it's nice to have a few days after that then when all I need to do is click "publish" and it's ready to go.

Unfortunately, there's not much chance that I'll be able to list once a day - I have a pretty demanding full time job and can't feasibly make more than one piece a day. I'm still building inventory and crossing my fingers each day for that first sale.

I have been listing once a day for the most part and rearranging my shop about once a week. Keep it fresh and it keeps me focused. I have the time to do it and it seems to work for me. Do what you can tho to keep up, don't wear yourself out! Best of luck!

I just opened in August & up until Christmas, I was trying to list something every other day, if not every day. Many of the things I make take me a week to make though, so that schedule wasn't always possible. Since Christmas, I've been a total slacker about listing things - mainly because I have a huge pile of waiting to be photographed and frankly, I'd rather scrub toilets. LOL My photography skills are so bad & I get so frustrated with myself. Maybe tomorrow.....
