How often do you do bookkeeping?

I have most of my stuff automated by using Outright, but my bank is too small/local to automatically connect so I have to enter check deposits and transactions with my debit card manually! Kind of old-school.

So far I've kept up by doing it quarterly (just finished entering everything for Q2) and sitting down for a couple hours with a cup of coffee and just cranking it out.

What about you? do you do your own bookkeeping?

Hi Ruth! I have a small bank too, so it doesn't link to Outright. I just enter information debits/credits as soon as it happens. This way it doesn't pile up. I have the iPhone ap, which helps a little. But the ap definitely has room for improvement...a little glitchy.

I use an excel spreadsheet set up with different categories and formulas...enter expenses and revenues as they occur.....i definitely want to give that outright a try though...either that or set up an account on quickbooks

I am a bookkeeper originally so I use quickbooks and it's sad to say since I still use mostly my own checking I don't do anything till the end of the year. I just keep my receipts in a box and since I mostly get payments from paypal I just print a report at the end of the year. I'm a bad example, but quickbooks is very easy to use and I highly recommend it.

I'm not sure if they have an iPad version. I don't think so. And if you're on an iPad it might even be easier to use the website...the ap is a little glitchy.

I have my store since january and just started using outright this month, but im planing to do it monthly if possible!

I keep track of everything on an daily basis. Payments to my paypal account are entered in my Paypal ledger and at the end of the day I make sure that it balances.

If I don't keep track of things on a daily basis, it takes me ages to figure out what my supply orders need to be for the following week.

I have no need to do any bookkeeping for my Etsy shop, but I do sell at shops and shows and from my home,so I have to do bookkeeping twice a years for those sales.

I do it as it happens as well. No iPhone here, so I don't have an app for anything! My program of choice is Microsoft Money, but always hearing good things about Outright. Good luck!
