How much photo editing is allowed?

Hi there! I am still working on taking great photographs for my shop. I am comfortable cropping photos and doing basic enhancements. But are there formal limits from Etsy on how much I can edit? Or limits on what edits I can do to my main photo listing? My biggest fear is editing a picture too much and then not representing my item in a true light (no pun intended).

I am not aware of any limits. As long as you are portraying your item in an authentic way, it should be just fine. Sometimes I really have to mess around with the exposure and saturation settings to make my listing look as they should. Good luck!

I don't think Etsy has any rules regarding editing - - you just need to watch that you accurately represent what you are selling. Overediting is much more likely to upset a buyer who receives something "different" from what was on the screen than to upset anyone representing Etsy.

Sometimes I might have to do a lot of editing because there may not be enough natural light coming my way. Every picture gets edited in some way (plus my camera tends to lean towards a blue hue.) I'm not aware of any rules with photo editing, but I'm not sure why you would be changing a photo so much that your item wouldn't look the same. That's not really the point in editing a photo. Ideally you want the item in the photo to match what the customer will receive. I think the only repercussion is possible bad feedback if the customer doesn't feel that the photos 100% represented the item he or she ordered.
