How many should I have?

I have decided to start designing cross stitch patterns based on some of my photos. I am currently finishing the second design. I am stitching each project first so it takes at least 7 days from concept to completion. Then I will make corrections to the patterns and eventually I want to start selling the patterns in my shop. How many patterns do you think I should have ready to go before I start listing them?

Re: How many should I have?

yeah, i agree. There is no reason not to list the pattern when it is ready. Why wait to make a different patten? it's a completely different item

Yes I agree - go for it straight away! An interested person will come back and look again to see if you've made more patterns. I also know personally I can't wait to get every finished product on sale quick as poss!

Re: How many should I have?

The advice given above sounds solid, yet I would wait untill I had at least three patterns before I would list them. That is just my personal preference (I don't do things half).

There's no harm in listing only one, though you may not attract many views and sales until you have more. I'd go ahead and start setting up your shop - you'll learn as you go.

Re: How many should I have?

I already have a shop and I sell photo prints. The cross stitch patterns are an addition to my products. I wonder if only having one would look strange and random. I was thinking I might need to have 3-5 to start.

Re: How many should I have?

I'm a fan of strange and random money finding it's way into my pocket. This one listing will be in a completely different category with different key words and tags. It will bring a whole different shopper into your shop. This might be the gateway for a shopper to come into your shop and buy one of your other items.

But still.... if it were 2 or 3 listings, that potential customer might see it as the start of a new line of products. If it is only 1 listing it might be considered as no more than a random listing. Just a thought.

Re: How many should I have?

There's no loss if people think it's a random listing or not. They would have never found it to come to that conclusion if wasn't listed. They could buy, favorite and come back later when there's more. There's very little chance they'll think "screw this seller, I'll never buy from them. They had the audacity to list only one pattern".

Re: How many should I have?

Good points. Thank you. Once I get the patterns corrected and ready to sell I might see about listing the two that are almost ready. Especially since the third would be listed within a week of that.

Thanks all.
