How many shops are there on Etsy?

Does anyone know how many shops there are on Etsy?

I have read posts that say 800,000!!!

If that's true, there were less than 3,000,000 sales on etsy in April. So that's an average of less than 3.5 sales per shop. Considering how many sales the big supply shops make that's a pretty dire statistic.

So, does anyone know the real number of shops?

Or you could look at it this way:

Well it looks like there are about 13.6 million items for sale on etsy at the moment so if there were 3 million sales last month... I'd say that's pretty good!

Oh the 800k shops here is pure bs....fluffy numbers makes etsy look good. Someone who registered in 09 listed one time then never did anything else is counted in that number

(blank search for shops.... which only includes shops who have at least 1 active listing..and there are a lot who only have that)
So math...10 to a page x 1250 pages =12500 active shops....(give or take some for people on a temp vacation.)

This is why I am grateful for each and every sale - it's very flattering to me when a buyer chooses my shop over so many others! :)

@ Breanna..... That number sounds more realistic. Fluffly numbers drive me up the wall.

I checked out your blank search idea, Breanna, but if you click on the last page, you're only in the A's still. So that means the max number of pages for any search is 1250. I'm figuring, for each letter of the alphabet, another 1250 pages of shops. 12500 x 26 = 325,000. That's a very rough estimation.
