How many listings should you have?

Hello,

I have just recently re-opened my shop after doing a shop make-over. Instead of listing everything at once, I am adding new things on a daily basis (I heard on the etsy labs that this is a good technique as it gets people to visit your shop regularly waiting to see the new items).

My question is, does anyone know how many listings a shop should have? Is there a “magic” listing number? Thanks!

Re: How many listings should you have?

I've heard 50 but I've also heard 100. My views started picking up after I hit 30 items.

You're in the jewellery category, so I would say the more the better. I don't believe in a magic number, but the more items you have, the more searches you will show up in.

Good luck - your shop looks great!

Re: How many listings should you have?

Everyone's got their own magic number :)

I also decided to rebrand - I went with 5 listings a (work)day in the first month. To bring me to a 100. The experiment is still on, but I'm happy with the way it's going.

Best of luck with your relaunch.

I've also heard 50 and 100. I've also heard that it depends on how complicated what you make is...but jewelry is so saturated (from what I hear) that you are going to want a lot.

I was watching an online lab yesterday that said pretend each item is an ad for your shop....the more ads out there, the more people see you, the more sales.

think of each listing as an ad that will appear on the internet , the more the better!

Re: How many listings should you have?

I think between 50 and 100 is a good place to start aiming for- it will also help if you are listing daily (ish!) I'm trying to list 2 items a day!

Good luck and hope you find a number that works for you!

Re: How many listings should you have?

Emily has good advice. I think the magic number also depends on if you have to hand make each item. Obviously I am never going to have a 1000 items in my shop. Heck, I dont even know if I'll get from 170ish to 200 but that is my goal.
Just keep plugging away. :)

Re: How many listings should you have?

Agree with everyone, I find that my sales has been increasing after having more than 50 items and relisting and list items on a daily basis.

Re: How many listings should you have?

Ok, the "magic " number appears to be between 50 and a 100 listings. Thanks to you all!
