How long due you let your items stay up before you offer a discount or sales

I have only been on for a week now I've sold 3 items but I was thinking of having a flash sale or offer a chance to win a free item from my shop.? Is that a good idea.

If you want to, I dont see why that would be bad?

Of course you can offer discounts anytime although doing it too frequently will give people the impression, that your items are not worth what you charge in first place.
I do have items in my shop that have been sitting there for a very long time before someone comes along and "adopts" it. Items go into my clearance section once they no longer appeal to me visually.

Hi, Keishawn, congratulations on your launch and sale!

I suggest you complete building your shop before thinking of special promotions. Write your policies, etc. If you resize your photos to 1000x750 px you won't have part of your primary photo cropped by Etsy. I suggest you use all your photos--front, back, in a box ready to ship, close up, etc.

Yes, give yourself some more time. Hopefully more people will favorite your shop and items. That will increase the odds of your items showing up in the first few pages of a search. Listing new items and selling your items help too. A sale won't help yet because who will see it? Remember to keep your most important word (wreath) in the first 3 words of your title.

What a cute shop!

When I see a sale, I usually think that the item was overpriced to begin with. I think your items are priced fairly, so I wouldn't offer a sale. If a customer contacts you about lowering the price, you can always consider it then. (I sell vintage and maybe 5% of customers ask if I can offer a better price).

Just keep doing what you're doing, adding items, participating in teams, and learning about SEO.

Very best of luck to you!

A week isn't nearly enough time for your marketing to take effect. I've been here quite a few years now and I only have maybe one sale each year. But that is marketed heavily to my target audience for a few weeks in advance.

I would strongly suggest that you finish building your shop (shop policies, sections, About the artist page, shop announcement) before you even start to think about promotions.

Also if you write your descriptions as if you were describing the item to someone over the phone (without a photo), they will end up being much more detailed.
