i apologize in advance...............my question might be stupid. we come from germany and did a lot of business with the stationed families here. so we are used to 2 paydays a month...............the 1st and 15th. is it the same stateside ? might this be a reason for a slow friday and a very slow monday ? payday is still far away ????
I'm so glad that I didn't invest copious amounts if time retagging and titling everything in my shop for the 4-day black friday cyber monday sale that I had. I just put it in my banner, posted in some forums, tweeted and put it on facebook. My views were very high and I got a few sales, but only one used the coupon code anyway- seems to be a very different tune than this same weekend last year.
I've posted to my Facebook numerous times but apparently my friends are none too supportive because my Shop Stats don't show any Facebook views. :( Ouch.
I had maybe one friend look at my Facebook page and that has been it. I feel you there, I have been on Stumbleupon so maybe that will help a little.
Black Friday was a total wash out for me, but from what I've been reading in the other teams I belong to everyone was having the same problem. Hopefully it will pick up :)
@AnnoDomini Peopl get paid a variety of ways over here. I used to get paid once a month but I've had jobs that paid every week. It depends. But it's a good point. I heard on the television that people are being very careful what they buy this year. Sales were down on Black Friday here.
Thanks for asking. I forget we;re international. :^)
I think the number of shops is increasing faster than the number of shoppers. That makes it harder than ever to be found. All I can say is try to your shop as good-looking as you can so that when you are found, people will either buy from you or bookmark you for later... Only 1 or 2 sales for me over the weekend. I'm not bothering with discounts because I'm already charging the minimum that I can.
thanks so much for your reply ! t try to understand a foreign economy. all i know is that´s a problem here in germany. people all get payed on the first or a few days later, so the days right before are the hardest... us in persons included :-) i see billions of nice things here, but as i mentioned.. money for christmas gift is on its way. but not here yet...
I'm pretty bummed, liked all of you. I tweeted, I FB'ed, I blogged, I 'stumbled', I "blabbed"...I renew, I add new items, I tweak, I "team" ... and now I WAIT. Is there ANYthing else I can do?? (I truly think I've done enough)
I think Rebecca (ChirpAndBloom) is correct. There seem to be more shops than there are shoppers. And personally, I think that 'the world' doesn't have a CLUE as to what "Etsy" is. When I tell people about my shop and that it's on Etsy...nine out of ten say "What-sy"?? People DO NOT know it exists, therefore they don't know that WE exist. I'm frustrated that Etsy doesn't spend any money on advertising. They expect us to spread the word...they make money on our constant renewing and listing...and no one knows we're here. Sorry for the negative but I'm REALLY bummed.
