So I was thinking how funny my walls look since I've been building up inventory this past year but in such a small house with very little storage space I have come to storing all my paintings on my walls. The living room, bedrooms and bathroom all are covered in canvas!

Here is my proof:

^It's true that most of my paintings were not meant to be displayed right next to one another but I'm not sure how else to safely store them so until they sell I live in chaos!

Re: How do you store your inventory?

Glad to know I am not the only one living in chaos! I have yet to find a system that really works but I have pretty much dedicated every closet in my home to my craft. My items are never the same size so I get very creative. oh and under the bed storage containers have been a life saver!

Re: How do you store your inventory?

Since I sell jewelry it's easier to store my creations, but my inventory is usually around 500 items at any given time, so I still have a lot to find a good place for. My supplies can take up an awful lot of room, too.

Right now I do two things, since there isn't an actual designated workspace in my home, as of yet, for my crafting. I have a huge entertainment stand in my living room and I've basically claimed a large portion (previously unused) to keep all of my beading boxes in. I also have a tall storage container that I keep on my computer desk (lol).

To store my actual creations, I have some small, flat & airtight containers and I put my earrings in one, and necklaces/bracelets in the other. I keep the earrings organized with smaller plastic containers that I'm able to use to line up each earring card neatly. Everything else is stored in ziplocks, with bubble wrap if necessary.

It works well for me!

Re: How do you store your inventory?

Oh, my gosh. Try storing 260+ vintage (mostly clothing) items. My partner is working on getting her house on the market, so our whole inventory is in my house. I cleaned out a big basement storage closet and most of the clothes are now there. (All longer items are hanging, grouped by color). I also have our vintage this 'n that section (housewares, pottery, magazines, etc.) upstairs in my sewing room. Ask me when the last time was that I could get to my sewing machine! Good thing we don't sew for a living. Lol...

Re: How do you store your inventory?

Wow, I was surprised to see this post from 2011. Since then I made the decision to switch from painting on stretched canvas to smaller canvas panels for two reasons, canvas panels are easier to ship and don't take up so much space. I have about 150 paintings in my inventory now (not all listed) they're all wrapped in wax paper and being stored on a shelf my fiancé made just for them. I have about 7 stretched canvas paintings left over from the old days that I've sort of decided to keep for myself and one listed.

At the moment, my listed items are in two 18-gallon Rubbermaid bins, and overflowing into a large cardboard box ... and elsewhere! I also have an (even larger) cardboard box of items that aren't yet listed and that, too, is overflowing!

You are right, this post was dated back in 2011. However there have been some really helpful tips here that even I fell in love with.

Thank you for creating the thread :)

I have five plastic shoeboxes labeled "Bracelets", "Necklaces", "Earrings", "Photographed Not Listed" and "To Be Photographed."

Each individual piece of jewelry is in it's own little bag inside the appropriate box.

Re: How do you store your inventory?

What an interesting post .... each of my items from the smallest brooch and key fob to my large zip totes is stored in its own clear zip bag. Then the items are softly packed into the nicest lidded boxes I can find.

I have this idea that somehow it is important to 'look after' and store the bags and accessories nicely as I have spent so long creating and then they'll be safe until their new owner finds them in my etsy shop!
