How do you promote on social media?
I'm just getting back into selling again and am looking for more traffic. I've tried to max out my SEO and post on social media but think I may be doing something wrong.
What platforms do you post on?
What does your post look like?
Do you post etsy shop updates? does this help?
Thanks in advance

Re: How do you promote on social media?
I'm on twitter and facebook. From the business point of view they are a total waste of time. If you post nothing but posts about your shop and its items you don't get (or keep) any followers. I have around 4000 tweets on twitter but can only point to 2 sales from it. There's too much content.

Re: How do you promote on social media?
Hi Madison,
I can relate to your question as I have gotten back to selling after a 2.5 year hiatus. Things are picking up, albeit slowly, they are picking up.
Much of this is due to the SEO on each listing. It's all about the title and the tags. Whatever your title, you should make sure all of your tags have the words from your title in there. Lots of my time goes into searching the best titles for my given area of sales. If you sell similar things on your site, you will build some great momentum on your shop for the given keywords you use.
Also, adding more listings makes a great difference. I'm still not where I want to be, but it's a goal. And while I'm at my goal, I make sales, so that's been very nice.
Social media I focus on Instagram , Twitter and Facebook and Pinterest. I have different desired results from those, though. Like Facebook is more about just being on there in case, like general exposure. Whereas with Instagram I'm on there to build more community around other artists and vintage lovers.
Social Media posts: basic really. Except that I try to add a little bit of my personality into the post and focus on the keywords I want to organically reach people through.
Hope this helps a bit. Your stuff is super cute!

Re: How do you promote on social media?
Thanks for the reply!
Richard - Yeah I've felt like I get more engagement on "process" photos rather than AD's for my products. I appreciate your insight!
Regina - Super awesome tips! Thank you for taking the time to explain all of that it is super helpful for me! I will focus on my titles and stuff this weekend!
Also good point about the "adding personality" I feel like I need to add more of a narrative to not only my work but my listings as well! You have my wheels turning!!
Thank you guys so so much! Greatly appreciated!

Re: How do you promote on social media?
Madison, you have super cute stickers and patches. I have an 18 year old daughter who does cosplay on instagram. She has thousands of teenager followers and sometimes promotes a product such as yours on her instagram page.
You might want to try engaging with the cosplayers of instagram.
The stay weird sticker is pretty much them, and they are into cactus too.

Re: How do you promote on social media?
I'm like Richard, I have facebook and twitter for my store. I also had an instagram page, but converted it into a personal one because like my twitter and facebook, I couldn't pin any sales to any of them.
Granted, I still occasionally use facebook and twitter with the same success as I did when I used them actively. I feel like both are only good for people who have brands that are already established and not someone whose new and trying to be found. It's almost like going to FB/Twitter/Instagram etc has become an easy go to to promote.
You are probably better off figuring out your target market and find out where they are and "advertise" there. For me since I sell some knitting patterns, currently working on more, I have my patterns on a knitting pattern site that directs to my Etsy page. I have gotten sales that way. I have also received traffic and sales from having the children's capes I sell on a website. I paid $3 initially to be on it, and it's more than paid off.
