How do you pick the winner for giveaways

I am holding my first giveaway and realized I have no idea how to get a fair drawing form the 400 people who have liked my facebook page. What do you suggest.

Jaclyn be careful, as running a giveaway where people must like your facebook page or share your promo to enter is a facebook no no. Facebook immediately shut down pages that do this - you need to run giveaways through a third party or your website. :-)

Go on the admin panel at the top of your facebook page. Under 'notifications' you will see 'new likes'. Next to that is 'see all'. Just click on it and it will give you all the names.

Re: How do you pick the winner for giveaways

Thanks Elaine and Tina oh no. I had no idea. Do you know why this is? Now I am worried but I feel like I can't not let people win or that would just suck for them. Not sure what to do at this point. I feel like I see people doing giveaways like this often. " WHen we hit 500 We are going to do a giveaway." Is this just more people being in the dark?

They're taking chances. Have you thought about putting it on your Blog and using Rafflecopter? Your announcement can tell everyone to go sign in?

Also, there is a legit app you can use on FB, I forgot what it was, but maybe search the FB for Apps? Just throwing out some thoughts.

Re: How do you pick the winner for giveaways

Jaclyn, I now run my giveaways on my website, I have a tab on my facebook page which links to it. That way I can let everyone know I am having a giveaway and to click on my facebook tab to enter.
The Tab has a 'gateway' which means people must 'like' as they enter - that way you still get likes.
You can't notify the winner on facebook, it must be via email, and then with they're permission, you can announce who the winner was on facebook.

Facebook don't even warn you about it - they just shut your page down! It has happened to so many people, even pages that had 900 and more fans!

I am running a giveaway at the moment - it gets drawn tomorrow - your welcome to have a look at the way I set mine up.
https://www.facebook.com/TRaewyn then to the 'competitions and giveaways' tab. (It takes you to my website).

Hope this all helps!
