How do you add something special to your packaging?

When I package I keep it simple. I wrap my hats in white tissue paper with a business card and close the tissue paper with a Thank You sticker with my store page on it. It seems a little plain to me.

What are some ideas that are affordable to add something special to packaging?

I wrap my items in pretty tissue paper (or according to the holiday coming up), then bubble wrap to protect it (I wrap my knitted items too), and then place it in a decorative treat bag or decorative sandwich bag. Some of you might think, "Ew, a sandwich bag?!" C'mon guys, they're not used sandwich bags. lol They're bags with cute designs (and they're zipper bags too, keeping out smoke smells and such).

Right now, I'm whipping out my Halloween decorations for my packaging! :D Before I know it, I'll be doing the same thing with Christmas packaging too. XD

I wrap my items in brown paper packaging and tie it with hemp string and add a feather through the knot where the bow is tied, as well as my shop tag and a complimentary healing crystal inside charged with white healing light and loving vibrations :)

I currently don't do much other than attach a handmade tag with gold safety pin. I have been thinking about possibly using stamped linen bags or something similar to put my pillow covers in. Just something to spruce up the packaging.

I love finding out what people do and love the idea of the "Feather through the knot" by Wildcanyonsnwhiskey.

Maybe I go a little over the top with packaging, but I love to get beautifully wrapped packages.

So, I put the jewellery in a suede pouch with a cute printed "Thank you" tag, wrap it in tissue and tie with a thin velvet ribbon. I also include a business card and a printed sheet on "Looking after your jewellery".

My special touch is the stamped design on the cotton pouch or kraft box (depending on the jewelry) and a hand written Thank You card that I designed on the computer and printed for one side :)

Re: How do you add something special to your packaging?

I wrap my items in a high quality clear gift bag, add a free handmade flower gift tag (that I sell in my shop), a printed out note that tells them thank you for shopping at my shop etc. etc. and I add a repeat customer code at the bottom and sign it. I then seal it with a silver coin seal or bow sticker. I also add a business card with a small ribbon bow attached.

I know it seems like a lot, but I have had so many of them immediately convo me and say how lovely it was wrapped. Recently, a customer came back and bought some more of the tags that I put in as a free gift and I recently did a custom order making her some of the flowers. So it paid off!

These are awesome ideas. I was thinking of adding crocheted gift tags to add to the top of the wrapped item. Something to make my shop stand out but also go with my style.

Sarah - I think the crocheted gift tags seem perfect! You could also make some to sell in your shop, that way it becomes advertisement!
