How do people get to be in so many circles?

I'm pretty new here and trying to figure out all the different ways of marketing.

I notice that some people are members of tens of thousands of circles. I've been adding to my circle (and being added to others' circles) every day, but how do these people get SO many?

Yeah, I sometimes wonder about that, it's taken me 8 months to get in almost 600 circles (I've also enjoyed every minute ot it!). Maybe some of those shop owners are veterin Etsy people and have been on Etsy for a longer time than me. It's really great meeting all these new creative, talented people. Just have fun with it and enjoy!

I wondered about this too! But it turns out there are teams that you can join specifically designed to help eachother promote our shops and join circles. The one I have joined is the Circle Clicking Team http://www.etsy.com/teams/8308/the-circle-clicking-team
It's good! I guess the people in thousands of circles have had their shop for a while and are very dedicated! Hope that helps a bit...

I'm not entirely sure how people end up in circles. I don't have anyone in mine, but I'm in 128. I suppose if people are truly interested in your products, they add you. Otherwise, I don't know,

Keep in mind that when you're added to someone's circle, they don't see YOUR new items, they see the items that you favourite. So if you are in a lot of circles, you have some influence, and can help others promote their items by adding their items to your favourites.

I don't know how people get into tens of thousands of circles, but it wouldn't be where I put my marketing efforts.

I think they recently made a cut off number for circles, I'm not sure why that is.
Kim, when you say you don't have anyone in your circle, I believe it's because you have not added anyone to yours. People can add you to their circle, but if you don't reciprocate, which you are not obligated to, then you won't have them in yours. Does that make sense? The number of circles you are in and how many people are in your circle can differ. Hope this helps.

I add people to my circle if I like their favourites. This is the point. Adding people to your circle who have their favourites private defeats the purpose. I like to discover new things. People in my circle only see my favourites not my new items. I agree with Jennifer, "It wouldn't be where I put my marketing efforts".

Kim if you want people in your circle you have to add them.

I add people to my circle when I really like their shop. I add them to my favorites first and then my circle. That's what I figure everyone else does.

Add them to your favourites if you like their shop too!!! You won't see their new items from the circles in the activity feed, only their favourites.
