How do I...

reward a returned customer?

I have cupon code for -10% for all returned customers. But this customer bought 5 items in 1 year period. Keep in mind I sold 41 items in total. It's going to be 1 year since this customer first purchased in my shop and I was thinking about offering -25% off on anyting (including itmes that are already in my sale section). I was thinking of sending handmade and handwritten (by me of course :)) Christmas card. Would that be too much?

Do you, would you reward a returned customer and how? Any ideas? I know sellers in this team have lots of experience, tips and ideas. That's why I love this team so much!

Thanks!
Kristina

Re: How do I...

I give out a simple 10% discount code with every order. That's more or less the reward, really. However, if they come back to me often I'd add in an extra free gift every now and then, or offer them a bigger discount.

If they've bought from you 4 times then I'd say that a free gift or a large discount was a good idea, but the free gift would have to be a good one. In this situation I'd add in one of my cheaper products rather than the small items I usually give out as free gifts with orders of 2 or more items, or that go out with every order of any size during December. It's always nice to get a free gift in December!

Re: How do I...

Kristina, given that this customer is really a loyal one, 25% off would be really nice and I'm sure your customer will appreciate it very much.

I add a coupon for 15% off to every package I ship, but in your place I'd definitely offer a bigger discount.

Re: How do I...

Since the customer obviously loves your stuff, I might give him something like what he bought (in a different colour or size) for free.

When it happened to me, I thought about rewarding customers with little gifts, like mittens, but they wanted my socks and so I sent an extra pair.

Re: How do I...

I would give a free gift. They like your stuff so this could be the best present.

Re: How do I...

Would a bigger discount not mean that the customer would expect to still have that big discount for future purchases instead of it being a one off? It might be difficult to get out of. For that reason I would personally choose a free gift. Thinking as a buyer I would probably prefer a free gift anyway purely for the fact that it doesn't feel like the seller wants to still get money out of me and I'd also think, 25% discount is a lot but the seller must still be making a worthwhile profit or surely they wouldn't be selling it that much cheaper.
I am not an experienced online seller but these are just a few things that went through my head and I'm actually curious if my points are actually the case?

Thank you all for your replays. I'm glad I didn't take any action, must think this through.
