How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

It would be so practical for me to do a couple of listings some evenings and then have one to post, or put active, every day. If I do the listing and click finish, it goes active. I would like to do a couple at a time, and then put one up every day. (my goal anyway.) I have searched, "save listing," and other terms in Help section. no luck.
Can anyone help?

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

You mean you want to store the listing? Etsy doesn't have a save listing feature. I wish they would. I know if you don't click Finish, it goes away. I think the only way to "save" it, is to post it, click finish, pay the listing fee, deactive it temporarily then activate it when you're ready. But, theres probably a downside to that. Does anyone know a better way?

Yeah this would be a great feature for Etsy to have, it would save me a lot of hassle trying to rush to get a listing out in the mornings. I hope they give us this feature soon!

Its easy. When you get to the finish page don't click finish. Instead save the page on your browser in your favorites. When you want to list just open the page and click finish.

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

Great idea. I too would love this to be an option. Being in Australia and most of my sales going to the US I need to post at odd times that dont really suit. SAVE option would make it much more practical.

Fingers crossed Etsy will change this.

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

you could do the listing, publish it then from "your account" deactivate it. It will then stay in the "inactive" listings section until you "activate it" again.

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

I usually just create the listing, click finish, then "deactivate" it. Then I can "activate" it when I'm ready.

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

Ohhh great idea, thanks for the tip! Now I know how some sellers managed to post 10 items at once without being sandwiched by other sellers' items on the homepage!

It's been asked for many times...

You can write your listing text in a plain text editor and have it ready to copy & paste whenever you are ready to list, so it only takes a few moments.

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

Thanks so much, everyone! The best idea sounds like JudyStalus'. I'm going to try that, and if I can make it work, great. I had figured out that I could list and deactivate. Activated this morning a listing I had prepared last night. Didn't check to see if it went to the top of listings. Does it? I mean does listing, deactivating and reactivating put your item to the top? As I understand it that is the whole point of relisting unexpired listings; to get them back to the top.
Oh, and I so appreciate your help and answers that I looked at most of the shops! Thanks again.

It won't go to the top if you activate a de-activated listing, and the clock still runs on inactive items so you shorten the listing's live time too.

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

It's too bad Etsy doesn't have this function. The only ways are really the ways suggested here, either save it on your browser & copy & paste or create the listing, finish it & then either de-activate or edit. You can edit & go to another page, without clicking finish. The listing will then stay in your inactive listings until you are ready to post it. You won't have to pay another fee, unless you leave it there for several months. I don't know how long it will appear as a new listing, though. I believe you would actually have to re-list & pay another fee for that to happen. You can always Tweet, FaceBook & post in groups to advertise your 'new' listing for views, whether or not it shows up at the top of searches. It may not have exactly the same effect, but it'll be a little more targeted, so maybe, in some ways better :)

Re: How can you prepare and then SAVE a listing

The list and deactive makes no sense - it gets on the list when it is completed and them when it is reactivated it is on page 1000 just as it would have been if you had no deactivated it. What is the point of doing that?
