How can I increase my Admirers?

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on increasing my Admirer count? I feel like having a big number of admirers would help build trust among my shoppers since I'm a new shop with only 31 sales and only 11 reviews. I don't have Facebook, so can't spread shop info on social media...is there another way?

Any advice at all? Someone out there must have some tips on how to get people to favorite your shop...not just your items.

Re: How can I increase my Admirers?

I'm not sure buyers are looking at how many admirers a shop has and decide to buy or not. It does help but I don't think it's the main thing.

I started my shop here as a hobby and started having sales without lots of admirers, social media, previous sales, feedback.

But if you feel more confident as a seller by having more followers, then I guess trying to be visible online (without spamming) would help. Also, I hear there are teams that have those games, like favoriting each other kind of thing, that you might be interested.

Frankly, though, I would aim for more genuine likers.

I'm a bit curious about this as well. I have more favorites on my items than I would have expected but it doesn't always get me a shop fave. I'm thinking it's probably due to my low selection right now. I'm working on it though! ;)

Re: How can I increase my Admirers?

Trying to get admirers is a total waste of time as most of them will never buy anything. The same is true for people who favorite. Admiring and favoriting are just a way of holding onto something without buying it. When people want to buy, they buy.

A few days ago I was looking at another team and saw a seller that looked interesting. Turns out they had a book I wanted. I didn't need to favorite it; I immediately bought it.

The titles, descriptions and photos you need to get someone to buy are different than those to make people look. I have an item that's been favorited a hundred times in the last 25-30 days yet hasn't sold. And I have an item that has been favorited 4 times in that period and sold 5 times - but not to anyone who favorited it.

I would argue that getting favorites does help shop visibility though. My best day was a couple months ago where I got over 1000 views (highest I've gotten so far) as well as one sale out of it, and it was all because people found it through a popular person's favorite section. I think every little bit helps!

Re: How can I increase my Admirers?

A high number of favorites/followers usually comes from being in many teams and playing the daily 'fav-a-thons', 'like-a-thons' and whatever else they are called.
When I first started I joined pretty much every team I could get in.
And I spent most my free time online playing those games. I met great people and I loved it then.
Then I could not play for a while and all of a sudden I got good search results without playing any of those team games.
I counted my teams and I was in about 60. So one day I just stopped playing games and I left all teams.
It took me a while to join a team again: Etsy success. I liked, that it said 'a non promotional team".
I am in 5 now, all but this one are Prototypes: shop stats improvements, shop dashboard, shop stats: historic comparison lines and tracking improvements.
All of them are very helpful. (for me) And I don't have to play the games to stay in the teams.
I had so many followers/ many left me, when I left the teams.
Followers only see in their status, what you have 'liked'.
Admirers see your items in their feed. But pretty much also only when you list a new one or renew one.
My sales often come from customers, who just opened their accounts, who have not favorites, who don't show their favorites.
Followers and admirers are great to have. I do love to browse in their shops and find totally different things, that I never would have looked for otherwise.
The number of followers or admirers just does not mean that your shop is better or not as good.

Re: How can I increase my Admirers?

Wow, that's some great feedback. I especially like the advice from Richard when he said, "Trying to get admirers is a total waste of time as most of them will never buy anything. The same is true for people who favorite. Admiring and favoriting are just a way of holding onto something without buying it. When people want to buy, they buy." This viewpoint makes so much sense to me that now I feel like I can just relax and focus on turning the visitors to my shop into buyers...not just admirers. Thank you very much.

Re: How can I increase my Admirers?

I favourite things all the time, either because;

1. i'm going to buy it when i'm ready for it ( for example i just bought new cushions i favourited months ago, now that my living room is redecorated & there's a place for them) .
2. I fave things throughout the year & then come back to choose one for birthday or Christmas gifts ( just bought a stack of old faves)
3. I will heart expensive things too if i love them but can't yet afford them but hope to after saving up, one day.
4. I fave things that i would like & then spend my little bit of me / treat money on them when i get the chance.
& lastly
5. I fave things i love, but not sure i have a place for them, but just in case one turns up ( & they often do) it's there waiting for me. Yesterday i favourited Richard's pinky check radio cause it's gorgeous, & maybe when mine dies or i get fed up of it, i'll have chance for something like this :))

I never ever fave things just because im in a group & I won't play those heart games because i genuinely use my list to fall back on for purchases all the time, i don't want it clogged with stuff i'll never buy. Plus mine are all private cause i dont want my friends & family peeking at what they might be getting for Christmas - they know i buy nearly everything on etsy :))

This brought me more hearts though (though i wasnt trying for them)...

1. I removed all the unpopular stuff from my shop
2. I listed things in a tidy order
3. I took better photos ( im not great at it but try my best)
4. I keep 4 highlighted pics at the top for better presentation & replace as soon as poss.
5. I got a banner & avatar pic & put up a little greeting notice.

& somehow people started to heart me. I dont have many hearts but there are stacks more than before so it deffo helped :))

Re: How can I increase my Admirers?

When I first started my shop a month ago, I definitely jumped on the team promotions. But, like it's been mentioned in this thread, those favorites and likes rarely turn into sales. Instead, I now want to put my focus on tidying up my shop photos, adding more items, and getting to know fellow sellers through the exchange of knowledge, not likes.
