How are my photos?

I would love to hear your opinions.
I've been using the camera on my iPhone 4 to photograph each of my cards in natural light on sunny days. Afterwards, I use photoshop to brighten them up. I'm wondering whether I should invest in a better camera. Would I do better to take a step back, invest more time in re-photographing everything using a better quality camera? Or keep photographing with my iPhone and just focus on adding more products to my shop? Thank you for any advice in advance!

Re: How are my photos?

I am no expert in photography (AT ALL!) so your pictures look fine to me - You even got the metallic gold reflection bit on your number cards.

My vote is for using your time to add more things to your shop.

Good luck!

i first looked at your shop and at your photos - and i think they are very good - they are bright and clear - everything is on it - your products really look good! then i saw you took them with your iphone - WOW - that's great - i would make more products and go ahead with those photos...

I'm not a photography expert, either, but your pictures look great to me! Very clear and clickable.

Re: How are my photos?

Thank you for your thoughts every one. This is very helpful info as I move forward.

Ciara, it's great to read from you about what caught your eye on the number cards. This way, I am also catching a glimpse of what is working and why... I'll strive to get that same look for my other metallic calligraphy pieces.

Gudrun, thanks for all your hearts :)

Re: How are my photos?

Honestly, I think they look great. I might take the table card pictures a little differently since there are some distracting shadows but they really honestly look awesome.

Re: How are my photos?

I had my photos taken by a photographer since my point and shoot was turning out soon dark. I think I'm going to try my iPhone in some natural light when I get some more items made! I agree with everyone, spend time on more inventory than retaking pictures.

They are great! Think I'll use my iphone - mine are from my Nikon and don't look so good!

Re: How are my photos?

Thanks so much everyone! Before posting this, I had spent some time reading about the different cameras people were using and became self-conscious of the fact that I was using my iPhone camera. My process is not sophisticated and I do not know much about product photography. Just from what I have observed here on Etsy. I take about 10-15 photos of each product on a sunny day in the early morning (7-8am) on the east side of our apartment. The radiator covers in our home are painted white wood (and right by the windows) so I take my initial product photo on one of those to get the coveted "white background" look. The other photos are taken on an old dining room table leaf. From there, I pick the 5 winners and use photoshop to adjust the light further using Levels and Curves. It is a process so I'm glad to hear it is working!

Oh, one more thing! For taking iPhones pics, you can adjust the focus by tapping on the screen right before you take the photo and you can take the photo using the volume buttons for a more stable hand. Have a great day everyone!
