Holiday Items when to start listing?

I was curious to find out what you all think is the best time to list holiday items? When do you start to add holiday themed/ inspired listings? Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, New Years...

i will probably start listing my christmas items by the end of september. that way they will expire by the end of january.

Right now. People shop for holiday items year round--no joke. I still sell Christmas items every now and then and get a lot of views and favorites on items from various holidays, no matter what time of the year it is. It also gives people a chance to find the items and save them for when the holiday approaches.

Now. They sell slower then come Nov/Dec of course but folks are nibbling and buying. I shipped some icicles to Ireland like two days ago. ;)

I have some of my Christmas stockings listed all year round, and I do sell them sometimes. Even 1 order is worth it for me to keep them listed, so that's what I'm doing. Also, the listing process isn't my favorite thing to do, so if I list them as I go along it will be much easier later in the year.

I'm currently letting my Christmas cards expire. I plan to start relisting them in late June or July, then renew in October. I'm going to start creating new Christmas items soon so I can start stocking my shop over the summer.

My last sale for a Christmas item was Feb. 15 (the day after Valentine's Day, go figure!). I don't recall seeing any search hits for Christmas items since then which is why I'm not focusing my energies on holiday items right now.

In my other shop, I sell hand painted, personalized ornaments. I sell them year round and have very solid sales (with huge increases during the traditional holiday months). I have found that my most Christmassy designs do NOT, however, sell well in the off months. I let these expired and then start relisting them in Sep.

I planned to let my stockings expire, but they kept getting views, so I let them stay. And here they still are in May, bringing in views, so I guess I'll keep them year-round! I just shuffled them to the back of my shop, and maybe I'll feature them in October/November or so....

Last year, I think my first sale of a Christmas-ish item was in late September. I got steady searches for Christmas stockings thru February, though I still get a few searches for them every week.

I plan to relist them in June or July also. I sometimes sell one or two!

I keep my items in my shop all year. As the holiday approaches, I make increased sales of the item, but during the off-season I like to keep the items available just in case (a Halloween item sold recently, for example!)

Thanks again everyone for your input.. I decided to list a few holiday items in the shop since it's true you never know who is searching for what and it may lead them to LondonandGranger. You just never know.. unless it's out there!

People are always looking for gifts throughout the year, it's best to post them now. Even if people don't buy right away, they may favorite it and save the purchase for later :) It's always better to have more items in your shop than less to because it increases your visibility.

I have been getting my inventory ready for the holidays because a few trade teams i am on in their " in search of" post a good amount of people are looking for early Xmas gifts I WAS not ready or prepared for the holidays on etsy, but this year hopefully i will be. I am hoping to do more sales than trades this year, but trading really helped with getting my shop noticed so maybe this year will be better, and a jewelry store just opened up in Standish and they offered to sell some of my jewelry during the holidays so hopefully that will help too :)

I try to keep holiday type listings in the shop year round.

I start planning for the next Christmas season on Jan 2nd simply because it sometimes takes that long to have the stock in the shop.

The majority of my holiday type items tend to sell between August and October with a very few selling in November and December. Then the sales pick up again on January 1st.

Its been this way for me for the past 5 seasons here on Etsy

This is my new shop so will be first Christmas, yay! Really excited about it, will be starting to make now and list after the summer holidays in September.

NOW! On Thursday I sold 5 "Christmas" stockings ... to just 2 customers! Granted, these had an Americana theme, so they're probably going to be displayed right away, but you just never know when something will sell!
