This week is dedicated to mastering the art of communication. You probably saw our email earlier this week (you know, the one where we announced the fact that you can now change your shop name!). We are working hard to let buyers know there is an real person behind your Etsy shop. Buyers come to Etsy because they want to invest in a unique item made or collected by a unique person. This week's tasks focus on not only getting found online, but to also personally connecting with your buyers.

Let me know how you find the tasks this week and if you have any questions!

Re: Holiday Boot Camp - Week 4!

Don't know where to post this, so I'll do it here - the tags must be working....or not...I just got a convo from a friend who was searching for "quilted dress" and my b/w bib came up on the first page! Then I tried searching for black and white quilted bib and it was first! Then a search for quilted bib showed another of my items on the first page! I know others have been on the first page of a search, but this is a first for me....Don't know how many people are searching for b/w quilted bibs, but it certainly is encouraging!!

Re: Holiday Boot Camp - Week 4!

I haven't read through all 6 pages of the thread yet as I'm behindc this week, but I have a question as customer contact seems to be hard for me.

What do you find the best way to contact your customers is? Email or Etsy Convo?

I always try to answer emails and convos within 24 hours, but I don't seem to get much feed back. I also send an email with tracking number and such letting the customer know that the item has shipped and ask for feedback, but I never hear anything back. Should I use Etsy convo instead?

Re: Holiday Boot Camp - Week 4!

Hi Brandi! I usually do both, though I think etsy sends an email of the convo to the customer's reg. email, it may be redundant, but I want to be certain they receive it. I also request in the "message to buyers" section that once they've received their item(s) that they return and leave feedback on their experience. I think this helps as most of my customers seem to be brand new to Etsy, so they may not know the ropes.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp - Week 4!

I havent heard back and always send a tracking #. They haven't left feedback so I'm going with no news is good news. if they're not happy, you'll hear about it - lol.

But I do think I get tracking info from other websites that says "do not reply" I think ppl have been trained to not respond to the tracking info.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp - Week 4!

@ QuiltedHugsBibs, I too feel like I'm in a catch 22...

I have been on Etsy since April, and have worked diligently on my site with changing tags & titles, taking better pictures & using a photo program to highlight them.

I have only had 7 sales, but 5 have been in the past month so I must be doing something right. However, it takes much time & patience. And, I have a full time job too! How do I compete with the other jewelry shops, of which there are MANY???

When does it finally all come together?
