Holiday Boot Camp - Week 4!

This week is dedicated to mastering the art of communication. You probably saw our email earlier this week (you know, the one where we announced the fact that you can now change your shop name!). We are working hard to let buyers know there is an real person behind your Etsy shop. Buyers come to Etsy because they want to invest in a unique item made or collected by a unique person. This week's tasks focus on not only getting found online, but to also personally connecting with your buyers.

Customer service, no make that personalized attention to our customers needs! What a great focus. I haven't gotten my email yet, but I am looking forward to this week's challenge.

It takes time, FlowerPower - I've done as well as I have in this shop because I have two other shops on Etsy and have invested time in cultivating relationships with people here. Be patient - and that's the hardest part about it!

so agree! I have had two sales this week, and have had great convos with the buyers, being clear that their order is right, and they know how their packages are being delivered and expected delivery times.

Have asked for feedback on my yarns from them, as think this is important too, so I can just keep pushing my yarn style forward.

Great articles that reinforce that people buy from people they like, and hopefully return for more, so conversation is top priority to make that link!

New to Etsy, so excited to keep pushing forward with my shop. Thanks for all advice!

@herie7 - The email usually shows up later in the day, after the companion thread here in the discussions. It'll show up in a few hours. You can try searching "bootcamp" or "etsy success" in the blog if you can't wait, might find it there, just be sure to check the date of any blog posts you find, could be from last years bootcamp.

The boot camp is a really fun way of critiquing my own shop. Learned a great bunch already! But one I still try to understand is the search ads. Will the boot camp tackle that one as well?

Great topic, I've already written a blog post on artCain.net about my great communications had with costumers. I enjoy chit chatting, even when there isn't a sale in the works. I've found wonderful people from around the world to learn from and with. ♥

There appears to be a problem with the emails - Etsy Finds, Success, and Dudes have not been received by anyone today. Some people got their Etsy fashion, although I did not get mine. Apparently the Bronto has gone on strike.

(Bronto is the service Etsy uses to send those emails out - tiny joke :P)

Well, I'm excited for when Bronto gets back in working order and all the emails go out! I normally get mine around 3-5 so I've been concerned but I guess it will come eventually!

I just talked to my mom - she said she got hers, so they're going out, just later than usual. :D

I make it a point to send a 'thanks for your purchase' email to EVERY buyer. Yes on some days that means that I'm typing emails for a couple of hours, but for me its worth it.

I'll let them know in that email when their purchase(s) will be shipped and by what route. (1st class, Priority, Parcel post, etc). I'll also ask how they found my particular shop.

That in itself has helped immensely with targeting my product placement.

Many times I'll get a reply from them asking that, when I get something else in stock if I can set it aside for them.

Just got mine and read it through. Will re-read it in the morning, but copied and pasted some of the keyword suggestions. Started a new product for babies and need to give some thought to keywords for that as this is a new line for me.
Will add more personalized ones soon and also pink:>)
