Hit by the Busy Bus

Ok, I know I can't be the only one one overwhelmed with holiday gear up and new shop shenanigans. I can't seem to juggle everything without dropping something. What do you guys do to keep your heads above water? Do you "hire" (or kidnap, coerce, finagle, bribe) help? Do you cut back or take a break? Surge forward with determination and extra caffeine? Install a fancy new program that lets you update all your social media at once and makes a mean cut of tea? Focus on one thing at a time? Make lists? Weep? Flail? Take up Karate?

How do you keep things on an even keel? (Well, as "even" as you get, anyway. ^_^! ) Let's hear your hard won tips on how to not strangle everyone before New Years.

Re: Hit by the Busy Bus

After spinning in circles today, I just gave up and cleaned my house and watched awful tv (Celebrity Ghost Stories-omg). Tomorrow is another day, and I should be in better shape to create (in a clean house!). If you really feel it getting to you, just walk away and do something completely unrelated to your work for a few minutes or hours or whatever feels right. Weeping and flailing can be your back up options--lol. Hang in there!

Re: Hit by the Busy Bus

I did the same thing today as Cathy--I'm calling it a mental health day. I cleaned the house in preparation for post-Thanksgiving decorating, and have pretty much bummed around online and watched TV the rest of the day.

Re: Hit by the Busy Bus

It's nice to know I'm not the only one doing a variation of the spinning in circles thing. I like the mental health day thing, too, except I feel really guilty not doing something productive. But, I think it might be better for the long run if I walk away instead of continuing to make a mess of things.

Ok, note to self:
Make checklists and actually check them off. (dur)
Give myself permission to take day off.
Buy Chocolate

Anything else? ^_^

Maybe my problem today was I tried to craft before my room was entirely clean so I ended up trying to shove pieces everywhere and feeling all hemmed in. I think that's were a list would have been handy.

And... now I'm off to karate class where my sparing partner and I will beat the ever-loving snot out of each other all in the name of stress relief. (Technically, there is a no contact rule but we'll chase each other all over the mats enough to wish we could have beat each other silly.)

Do you Pinterest? A friend of mine takes Pinterest breaks when she feels overwhelmed--take 15 minutes off of working on whatever you're doing, and surf Pinterest.

Re: Hit by the Busy Bus

After laying out 3 new bracelets and doing a couple quick errands, making a treasury, updating all my social media sites, I decided to take a nap. The nap gave me a second wind to assemble 2 bracelets then get dinner started.

Re: Hit by the Busy Bus

lol - Laughing not only is the word "shenanigans" a favorite in our home, but because we have been so bussssssssssy here that last week we had our team meeting~ my husband and I ~ lol ~ and said we needed to slow it down BEFORE we got to the point of sacrificing on anything... like shipping times, inventory controls, etc.

We agreed we would slow things down a bit and stopped listing for a couple days and guess what? I ended up in the Emergency Room. First time in 10 years with a Sinus infection! Never had one in my life!

Today's the first day I've been at full strength and back at it, but it was a reminder that you really do need to take time for yourself to rest or your body will FORCE you to!

Cheers!!
