Help with shipping backpacks PLEASE

Hi everyone
I was hoping someone could help with a shipping question.
We sell wool backpacks that can be laid out flat and are slightly larger than the biggest bubble mailer size (usually around 35cm x 45cm).
This means I usually have to fold the backpacks to make them fit inside the envelope. It works but it's not ideal.
Any one have any other ideas on shipping large, flat items? Preferably, I wouldn't want to use cardboard boxes since they are expensive and add too much weight.

Try rolling some bubble wrap and place the roll at the inside of the fold to keep creasing to a minimum. Styrafoam is another lightweight possibility.
