Help with shipping a baby blanket

Okay, I've got a new blanket made and ready to be listed, but I'm stuck on the shipping. I was going to stick it in a medium flat rate shipping box because it fits just right with room in case they order something a long with it, but shipping to Canada and Everywhere else is C.R.A.Z.Y.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Should I just go with regular boxes and ship first class? Should I try an extra large bubble mailer and go first class?

Re: Help with shipping a baby blanket

I use a poly mailer envelope to mail my items to Canada if at all possible. They are light weight and go cheapest. If you need a box it will be cheaper for you to get your own box and mail it first class. That's been my experience.
Good luck!

That's what I'm thinking too Sandy, after trying to compare some prices.

What is the weight limit for first class? Is it different for international?

Re: Help with shipping a baby blanket

Weight limit within the U.S. for 1st class is 13 ounces (and I believe it is higher for international) - is the blanket that light? I often find shipping priority is cheaper than regular post on items over 13 oz. Depending on the box/packaging size and weight, you'll have to determine if regular priority or flat rate is better.

Re: Help with shipping a baby blanket

I ship EVERYTHING that isn't fragile in bubble mailers. Cuts down on the weight and the size for mailing, even internationally. Then I charge triple the shipping of US shipping on any international package as a rule of thumb (if I'm not sure, I calculate it in the USPS calculator first).

Re: Help with shipping a baby blanket

Personally if its under 4 lbs, I would ship it via USPS 1st Class international. It will get there just as fast and not cost a fortune.

Re: Help with shipping a baby blanket

As long as it's light, just ship it via First Class in a large bubble mailer. Even internationally, it'll still be fairly cheap and get there in a reasonable time.

Re: Help with shipping a baby blanket

Crochetgal is right! ( Above ) Just use a good quality bubble mailer or something that can't be torn easily or get wet and soak thru. Don't go flat rate priority on it since not really heavy and you don't have to worry about it getting broken.

Re: Help with shipping a baby blanket

Thanks everyone! It's definitely under 4 pounds, just kinda big and bulky so I'm having a hard time finding a decent sized bubble mailer.
