Help with my tags

Over the past few months, my views have been down considerably! (2013 I was averaging about 30-50 views a day, I know that is not much, but still), now I'm lucky if I get 10 views a day. This is even with me doubling my stock from 2013!

I know I need work on my pictures. I just ordered a lighting tent, and I'm hoping this will help with a lot of my photo issues.

I just need to work on tags. I surprisingly get a lot of hits for my scarves, which is odd since its spring/summer. But my other items, not so much.

Would you guys be able to help me out with this? Any help would be appreciated.

your titles are the problem. three-six word titles=death.

IF you have a phrase, like "red beanie hat" only in a tag and not in the title, you will show up on page 97

If you have it in the title AND in one tag, page 1.

your titles are too short, and dont have good keyword phrases, so you are showing up on page 173 in searches that are important to you.

if you take your best 5-7 tags from this listing, then make those your titles with a comma between them, I guarantee traffic will improve.

Thanks. I had people tell me that the title had to be in the tags, but my titles were always too long for my tags, so I tried my best to have the two match.

Your suggestion of taking my best tags and throwing them in the title makes much more sense to me. I'll have to work on that.

hi! i`m having the same problem. I have been reading and turns out that its important to put keywords for increasing searching rate, not only in tags, but in the first words of titles and description!
So try rephrasing and rearranging the word in titles and descriptions!

Also try improving the photos! some are too dark and with low quality, that does not let see the details in texture of the yarn and kniting patron!

i actually did buy a light box. It should be delivered to me tomorrow. I know that my photos need a lot of work.

I also know my tags/titles needed work to. :( That's the hardest part for me.

i take my pictures with day light only! i put them on a table with a white paper in the back (bend, so is used as background and floor). thats all. i even use the "automatic" mode on my camera.
also, if you have photoshop, you can go to the "image" section in the upper bar and select "Auto levels", "auto contrast", and "auto color".

This is great info about tags and titles! I am finding that I have better luck with certain items and other just don't get anywhere! I'm also a short title kind of person, which must be part of the problem! Guess changing the titles and added more words will be extremely helpful. I just thought it would be too much for a buyer to have a ton of words right in the title. But if it helps potential buyers find it, it is definitely worth it!

Oh thanks Alex, I have never thought to think other way - put tags in headline. So simple. I tend to make short titles too. I don't know why it's so hard :)

Your titles need a lot of work. In fact, even the pictures need improving.
As for the tags, use all tag spaces that etsy provided for better results.
You can mention the material used for the buttons and describe each item more in the description section and copy the important keywords to the tags section.

I'm not really sure that any of this works consistently. I've been doing my own experiments with my engagement rings because they're easy to track. As far as I can tell I have the titles phrases in the tag words, I have the proper relevant title words and I use all 13 tags and have informative titles. I have the title phrases in the first paragraph...... so none of my antique or vinatge engagement rings show up in the first 10 pages and two rings that aren't featured as such do... makes no sense.

There are rings coming up on the first page that do not do these things.

A SEO tool was mentioned in another post that I finally figured out and it does't show any lisitng results for rainbow earrings at all... but I have them with that phrase first in the title and in the tags AND there are 17,000 rainbow results from an etsy listing search... but this tool says none.

So I don't get the SEO and I don't get relevancy because my empirical study doesn't point to any consistant results.

they were doing search tests for jewelry, which ended a week or two ago, as well as a test for other searches where the top half of a page was relevant, and the bottom half was semi relevant. Not sure if that one is over.

also, what you have in the description doesnt matter.

Ok... don't know what beta is so i can't take away anything from that comment unfortunately.

But I've read that it does matter what's in the description if you want to be found in Google searches. Have also read that Etsy relevancy works against Google search because Google rejects redundant results. I suppose I should be more concerened with being relevant on Etsy because that's the platform I'm using but it's frustrating none the less.

So if they're doing tests on searches now might not be a good time to change tags and titles because it won't be accurate?

beta means it is unfinished and undergoing testing. . That tool says "beta" on the front page.

google will bold the words it uses to find you.

it is extremely difficult to be found on google on individual listings, especially if you sell ooak.
Type anything into google +etsy and see what pages come up.
you will have to dig to find individual listings.

the best way to get found on google is via those etsy pages which always rank high on google.

check your search results to see if they are back to relevance. They probably are. If anything is being tested, it is pointless to make changes based on a test. They end.

Aagh! Tags! Does anyone else fill in more on the material section of tags? I mean filling it up with more tags that aren't materials but relevant to the product? Does anyone know if this hampers being found?!
