Help-views and sales gone down dramatically after Etsy Re-boot

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me. I sell wedding guest books, sales had been very slow since I joined last May, however after the new wedding section my products were getting seen and sales went from 4-22 in the space of a few weeks. I was getting convos daily asking about orders. I invested in more stock and bigger albums and listed my new stuff after Etsy had a re-boot and now none of my new books are showing up in the wedding sections, my tags and keywords are full and are the same or similar to the ones that were selling. Now my views have gone dramatically and no covos, despite me trying to keep on listing new stock.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Or got any ideas on how to help?

Hi Arelia,

I'm having the same issue. My views have dropped inspite of me listing a lot of items. Etsy does have its ups and downs and hopefully our views and sales increase again soon. I *think* I'm SEO optimised and there's no reason for the drop in views so just have to wait it out. I would take the free time currently to check everything's upto date in your shop and check your SEO and do some promoting outside of Etsy. That's what I'm trying to do.

Hopefully others will point out if our SEO is off the mark as well..

Yes I have noticed a real difference since the Etsy re-boot. My views have drastically dropped and I don't seem to be as visible as I used to be.....hmmm
Using the time to do the same as Arelia, just hoping I am SEO optimised too! Must admit this is the bit I loath, but I know it has to be done.

Thanks guys, glad to see I'm not the only one. Think I will do the same! Just really frustrating when your really trying to make a go of your business! Hope it picks up for you both too!

My shop isn't geared to weddings, but as I sit and think about the time of year and shipping times, might the slump be due to the fact that June weddings are almost over? I don't know how busy July is, but I would expect Aug. would be another busy wedding month. If I were to order a guest book now from GoldenScribbles, I would have to be getting married in mid Aug. or later....just a thought.

It also seems that there are many complaints about the wedding section and how items used to be found and now aren't - have any of you emailed Etsy directly to ask why?

My views have slumped since the reboot, too...I've been checking my SEO and am still coming up in searches just about the same as I was before, so I'm thinking it's maybe more of a seasonal thing, but I'm checking the teams/forums just in case there's something I've missed & something I can do...

Thanks Kim and Dan, yeah, I thought that too that maybe the rush of people for June weddings have passed as a lot of my orders were for june 30th. I hadn't realised other people have had a problem too with being found on the wedding section. Might be worth asking why. Thanks for the tips Kim!

I'm not in the wedding section BUT I will say my #'s are way down of people even just looking at my shop. I was at approx 35 views a day now down to 10. All this happening after the reboot. I'm just hoping things will start to pick up again.

I didn't think about it before, but I suppose it was around the time of the reboot that my views and sales took a nosedive. I just attributed it to people spending less time online in the summer, the way the wedding season works, and the weddings section being a pain. Whatever the cause, hopefully things will pick up again soon.

My views are down as well. I find that it's been harder to search for my own shop and my own items. I thought it was just slow until I saw this thread.

Also, I get very random sources too. These are sites that I have no connection with.

Like today it says "crochet.com" and "crochet.about.com" I don't even know what's going on with that...

Same thing is going on with me! March, April, and May were all super busy months for me. Then all of a sudden after the reboot in June, sales and views dropped significantly. I'm not in the wedding department but I have a feeling this is happenning for a lot of people across the board.

I have wedding invitations in my shop, and I am noticing that right now I have one invitation in particular that is getting tons of views and It is a fall invitation. I think if you had some guest books that were specifically fall colors or fall themed you could get more views right now. This is the time that the fall brides are planning. :)

Yeah, I didn't think of it before, either, but it is true, my views plummeted, too. Ok, ok...so it wasn't a long fall, but they are def. less. More like when I first started out. Just when I was starting to be encouraged!

Mine rebounded a few hours ago, but I have noticed a decrease in views lately. It seems no amount of anything is really working on lifting that. I kinda wonder if perhaps we are all seeing a slump in views because people aren't coming to Etsy?

Another problem is now when I search wedding guest books, mine don't show up until about page 10 and they are all bunched together. They aren't getting seen so does that mean they just keep going further and further back as they aren't so relevant anymore? One company had 9 of their books up on different pages before one of mine came up. They have more sales than me but not as many books in their shop. Just don't know how to get all my new books to be seen anymore! Will keep trying all your suggestions though, thanks!

l could cry at the lack of views l am now receiving. The views l have been getting are from websites l am featured on or self promotion. l was just starting to get regular sales as well and thought l was getting there. l am now back at stage one.

My views have rebounded to where they were before the reboot - Wednesdays seem to be slow days for me. I went through my shop and redid all titles and made sure tags were relevant and I am satisfied right now. I know that doesn't help the rest of you - sorry!

I continue to sell outside of Etsy and have three shows I will participate in between July & Nov.

I refuse to be distracted or discouraged by slow views! My positive attitude may just pass off onto a new seller or a customer! :)

My views and sales have dropped considerably as well. I'm hoping it's because people are saving all of their pennies so they can buy one of everything from my shop, but that might be a fool's hope.
