Help on quantity or multiple listings?

Hi guys,

So I make plugs/gauges which you stretch your ears with and I'm currently adding some new listings to my shop... however I am so puzzled on whether I should do separate listings because I have two of the same item but they're different sizes.

So say I have a 10mm plug with a flower on it, I also have a 12mm plug with the same flower on it so I figure they should go in the same listing so that I don't clog up my shop. But ... Etsy doesn't do separate variation quantities so I have to put my listing quantity as 2 or the item will be sold out and I'll have to renew it costing me 20 cents, but then if I put 2 items and someone orders 2 of the 1 size then I don't have that size, I mean I don't think anyone would order two but on the off chance it happened I'd be a bit screwed... I know it might seem obvious but opinions please?!

It's my understanding you could withe do a new listing or a variation. I would so a new listing so you can build inventory/ have a greater chance of being found.

Re: Help on quantity or multiple listings?

I would do 2 listings, as they're different sized. The only time I do multiples is if they are exactly alike. And, like Bridget says, the more items you have the better. When I do variations listings, for the number available I put in how many I have with 1 variation, that way if someone does order all of them with the same variation, I'm covered? Lol does that make sense?

Re: Help on quantity or multiple listings?

If they are different sizes I would have 2 different listings.

That way, if people are searching by size they can find what they want easily and there won't be any confusion.

For example, I sell crochet hooks. They come in sizes from B - Q and I generally will have up to 6 of each size available. I will list each one separately with whatever quantity simply because people search based on the size.

If I did only one listing with variations it would involve 16 different options for size and the possibility of someone purchasing up to 96 of the same size (which I don't have in stock).

So go with the simple route.

2 different listings so it doesn't confuse the buyer. Then link both listings to each other in case they are looking for a different size.

Either 2 listings or add a variation and just put 1 available. It won't cost any more than listing 2 as I'm this case you pay for auto renewal anyway when the first one sells.

Someone may order 2 the same size otherwise (for gifts etc, plenty of reasons it could happen), and that would be a problem!!
