Help me with my background?

Hi! I have been here for about 4 years and have used the same gray background..I was experiementing with the stone...if you look at the first 2 listings, what do you think? Do you think I can mix and match the stone ones with some of jsut the plain gray? Or keep it all gray? In the 2 listing, the citrine necklace, you can see it on all 3 examples .....
Thanks!!

Re: Help me with my background?

I like the stone very much and think they look fine with the gray. I think texture adds a little interest without being distracting.

Re: Help me with my background?

Thanks! I had this posted under business topics too, and all the responses were sooooo mixed..LOL...I have such a variety of colors and jewels, i dont want to make things too distracting...I see other great sellers that have a lot of distraction, but for some reason it does blend and look great..I guess cause Im used to the all gray, but Im bored with it, and feel like something is missing

Re: Help me with my background?

I like the texture of the stone, too. Mixing the stone with the solid background looks fine because they're in the same tones.

Beautiful work, btw!

Thanks Carolyn..The others on teh forums many thought the stone took away from the jewelry? But I feel my store front needs a change or an added something

Re: Help me with my background?

I much prefer the texture - it is gorgeous!

But in both you should consider using a light box to eliminate the reflection in your stone.

Re: Help me with my background?

What if you mixed it up for a little while and see how it affects your views? I think some of your bolder pieces might work well on the stone, but some of the more delicate, such as the tree or pine cone necklaces, might get lost when competing with the texture of stone.

Re: Help me with my background?

The bauble you are right, cause im experimenting now with a tiny sterling silver nest, a new piece, and I think it will look lost on the stone...Im experiement laying it in the gray, with the stone behind it :) I think Im making more work for myself...But getting sick of the jewelry laying the same way on the plain gray

Re: Help me with my background?

I like the solid grays a little more. I think they look nice, and I find the variegated stone a bit distracting. Beautiful photos, and jewelry!

Re: Help me with my background?

I like the MIX of both the flat grey and the stone. Since they are similar, colorwise, it works fine. I do think your jewelry really pops on the plainer background. That said, since you do include that view in your set of listing pictures, I don't think there's any problem with spicing things up a bit and incorporating some pictures with the stone. Great work. I would be selective, however, about which items you use the stone with. As others have indicated, you don't want your item getting "lost" on the stone.

Other than the time sink of taking more pictures, making some changes to your shop can really feel great. I know. I've changed backgrounds several times over the past several years. I think it brings a freshness to your shop when you make changes such as you are suggesting.

Re: Help me with my background?

The jewelry shows up so well on the grays! Your photos are great, I don't think I would change it. And I do think the varying shades of gray is good so I would use both.

Re: Help me with my background?

Love the stone! I'd use it for other listings and alternate the stone and gray backgrounds. It'd look great.
