Help! What has happened to my photos?

I was pretty happy with my photos but something has changed.

I recently went on vacation and I changed some settings on my camera to take family and scenery shots. Now I can't seem to get it back to jewelry photography mode.

I adjusted my camera settings according to the recommendations of other Etsy sellers and honed them over time, but I don't have the knowledge to fix them by myself (don't remember all that I did before to get them right!)

Here is an example of my new photographs - can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?!?!?!

Note: I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH22 camera

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

I'd look for macro mode on your camera, used for close ups, which is represented on almost all cameras with a symbol of a flower.

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

Yes, it looks like you need to be using macro, which probably was turned off when you went on vacation. If you don't see the symbol and no longer have the camera manual, try doing a google search. I bet there's a manual online somewhere.

Yes, I have macro on. I do know that much.

Any other ideas?

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

I know nothing about Panasonic cameras, but I would try different modes (other than macro) to see which photo'll look better. I actually do not use macro for close ups, I use different lens (https://www.etsy.com/listing/105943205/blue-and-orange-headband-navy-blue) and I always work on my photos in Photoshop and Picasa.
Looks like your necklace not in focus, do you have auto-focus on?

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

I have noticed that if I get too close to the object the image gets out of focus doesn't matter in what mode is the camera. It is better to move back, find focus and zoom in.
My five cents :)
Hope you will fix the problem soon.

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

I do edit my photos in Pic Monkey - this one looks out of focus (like Anna said) - I didn't have these problems before - I need to find those instructions for setting a camera up for jewelry photos.

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

I would take your camera to the camera store for a check up & cleaning. You may have gotten some dirt in the body of the camera making it difficult to set correctly or if it was humid it may have clouded the inside of the lenses.

Hope that helps!
good luck

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

I've got the same Lumix camera as you! It looks like your image isn't focused, switch to macro as mentioned in the thread more specifically click the intelligent auto button on the top (the one with a red marking). It has a special feature that focuses and brings out a product. Good luck.

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

I have been searching and found this link http://www.etsy.com/blog/en/2007/bright-light-big-color-using-ev-and-white-balance-to-make-yo/

I am hoping there will be some good info in here.

Thank you for all your suggestions!

Re: Help! What has happened to my photos?

One time I had a fingerprint on the lens. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Check your lens. I still don't know how that fingerprint got on the lens.
