I had great views for the month of January, then they subsided some in Feb, and now they are comparatively non-existent. Am I supposed to be daily changing tags and titles or something to keep views up?
Hi, I am newer to Etsy also, opening my shop in November 2011, I have had about 50 sales, but I don't get a lot of views per item. I have a banner, great pricing, coupons, sales, I do show cases, daily search ads, facebook and pinterest. I have started treasure lists, favorites, circles. I see shops that have 1000's of views per item. How does that happen? I guess I am glad to get a few views, and a sale from it. My advertisting expense is killing my profits. I am pretty sure I understand keywords, and titles. Does anyone have any advice for me in something I am missing? I think If I had more traffic, I would have more sales for sure. I am going to change my sections titles to be more exact to start. Kathy
Awww thanks Melani! I'll go and pin some of your items as a thank you! Kathy, I think 50 sales since Nov. is SUPER! You're obviously doing things right! I'd be very proud if I were you! :)
I checked my stats for last year and made a comparison to February and March of this year. It seems that these winter months are quiet except for a flurry of activity before Valentine's day. Another surge before Easter and Mother's Day . Summer a little more activity usually for birthdays and weddings. November and December gets crazy. So hang in there. Things will pick up. Sales are seasonal.
Thanks for all of the tips. I have been trying to repost or add something new daily and my numbers are up, so hopefully my sales will start increasing as well.
I didn't do any marketing for St. Patrick's day...and I haven't made any "Easter" headbands per se, although I have added spring and spring fashion for tags. That could include lots of things, I guess. Should I specifically tag these particular holidays? (too late for St. Patty, though). But it's not as if I'm specifically making "Easter" headbands--nothing with bunnies and eggs, etc.
My views are so erratic... not erotic alright. Just plain dull on some days. So I don't take a peek more than once a day. Drive me nutty. Sales are the same though.
What I normally do is change the titles a bit. My store rarely gets first page search for say.... locket necklace. Because the category is loaded. Jam packed. However if I change my title to minor category with lesser items in it. The item can get to first page of search. My hope is more folks search with that keyword so the store gets more clicks which (hopefully) lead to sales.
Just recently I shuffle the photos. And two items got featured in the treasury. When in fact those two are almost flat line with teeny activities. Another two got sold. I put the first photo with my hand wearing the bracelet. Maybe I should insure my hand (only the left one), pretty enough to get attention lol.
Test things... everything you could think of. Play with the ideas, put them to test. Who knows... yes
ya its been dead for sale at my shop too. views ya not too bad. but sales are what we all want. :\ ive been watching what some of the other shops that i admire are doing and some didnt even bother with st. pat's day stuff. ya, im glad i didnt focus on it either. complete bust not one sale on my st. pat item. it was in a bunch of bns treasuries and regular treasuries and blogs..bla. i think it is just really slow right now. peeps are planning vacations and spending money on spring break trips..not really any "buying" holidays coming up. easter is kinda a cheaper holiday no a days. peeps get cheap stuff at target for that holiday..cuz its for kids. ya know. i dont think much will be rockin at my shop until the fall again..suck. just got to make enough to clear your monthly fees, i guess. good luck :)
My views have been super low this week. I'm adding new work daily, but should I be renewing older things as well that aren't close to expiring? I'm not sure if it would help draw traffic or just be a waste of the $0.20. I'm also thinking of offering free shipping next week just to boost my spirits, but if no one is looking at my shop how will anyone even know? Nuts.
Re-listing items about to expire or not does help with views and sales. I do this periodically along with listing a new item...almost every day. It does depend on who is looking but sales do come. Yesterday I listed an item that had been sitting next to my computer for a month...now don't laugh...and it sold right away! Timing I guess, who knows...but it is in pastel spring colors which might be why...adding more spring/summer items at this point will bring the customers in.
I did not tag anything for St. Patrick's Day but did sell a few "green" items the beginning of the month. I don't usually tag for holidays but then jewelry is different then say greeting cards or other holiday related gifts. I guess you just have to do what works for your shop.
Since I started I have changed many things, titles, tags, pictures, now it all seems to be helping, my views are going up nearly every day. It is easy to get discouraged, but I try to remember that this is a very big place, and I remind myself to be patient....good luck!
