Help! Photographing earrings?

Hello!
I'm having a lot of trouble photographing and tweaking earrings with silver plated findings- I can take a photo of the earrings on a white background (the [photos are a little dark, as recently there hasn't been much bright sun) and use photoshop to lighten the background. However, when I'm lightening the background, the earwires fade away into the background.

Does anyone have any idea on what to do?

what kind of camera do you use?

Canon Powershot X100 IS

I doubt it's the camera, it's possibly that I'm not working in the right lighting conditions....

i saw the other pictures you have in your shop they are looking great! message me if you would like a coupon code for them! take them in darker lighting with a higher exposure .. that might help
