Having a problem with the pymt of our first sale on Etsy

Our shop has been on Etsy for a little over a week now and have a couple of concerns/questions regarding the way the revenue of our first sale is correlating to my monthly Etsy invoice.

We received a sale w a listed total of $75. Etsy deducted their appropriate % of the payment then deposited the rest correctly. Everything seemed to have gone perfectly until I just checked my current statement and their % of the payment is listed on my March statement as a balance that I still owe. The statement is not finalized until April, is this something that always happens and get adjusted upon finalizing the statement or is this something that can potentially be an issue?

And secondly, no sales tax was added to the sale when the buyer finalized payment. I am assuming that it not being added was my doing as I haven't seen anything regarding tax and how to add it.

Etsy only deducts their transaction fee when you make a sale, but you still owe the shipping label fee, if you printed one with etsy labels of course, and listing fees. About the taxes, there is plenty of help in the seller's handbook. Here it's the link for it:

I hope that helps, good luck!

If the customer paid using direct checkout the fees for direct checkout are removed at the time of sale. The transaction fees are due on your etsy bill. They are 2 different charges. Also, if you printed a label through etsy that fee will go on your bill as well.
You should be charging sales tax for purchases made in California.
You will need a sales tax id # to submit it. You need to adjust your shop settings to charge sales tax for purchases made in California

Re: Having a problem with the pymt of our first sale on Etsy

@Aracely Thanks, regarding the sellers handbook I will definitely check that out

For the Etsy fees, I understand that they only deduct their portion of each sale once something is bought and paid for, the issue that I am encountering is getting charged for the same sale twice.

My online viewable statement which states the amount is outstanding is not finalized until April, is this simply a delay in their posting of the pymt or is being charged multiple times for the same fee something that can be a issue?i

There are 2 separate fees if it is through direct checkout. Often times they are the same amount. One comes out at the time of the sell and the other on your etsy bill.
You can read up on fees in the seller handbook.
