Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Hi Team,
I was just wondering if anyone has used Etsy On Sale to put items from their shop on sale and if so, what are the benefits? I appreciate your feedback.
Blessings to you,

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Well team, since no one answered my thread, I'm guessing that you haven't tried it. I'm pretty excited & have to tell you I just started a sale on Etsy On Sale yesterday and got the most views ever! And interestingly, I got four sales for the 1st day of my sale & only sold 1 sale item - all the other items were for my regular priced items. So it is definitely bringing people into my shop. I only put 18 items out of 355 on sale. You can do it anyway you want, but I just set it up to do a 50% off sale to make it look big - and Etsy On Sale does all the price changing. It took me about 5 minutes to set up. It was super simple to do - they do all the work. If you decide to sign up, email them or call them (they're really nice) that CaliforniaCrownJewel referred you and they will give both of us free credits so it won't even cost you anything for your first sale. www.etsyonsale.com/
Blessings to you for much shop success,
<3 Jewel

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Jewel that's brilliant!
I've never heard of it.
How do shoppers find the listings? Do they have to know about etsyonsale & enter that search term?

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Hi Jewel,

Somehow I missed your post, otherwise I would have responded before now. I am glad you are having success with Etsy on Sale!

I have a jewelry shop MariesJewelryStudio. I have been working on it really hard and incorporating the advice I received from this Team (which I greatly appreciate).

Because the jewelry field is so saturated, things were not moving, so I decided to put that shop on sale at 35% off - from August 3 through 13. I am sorry to say that I only sold four items and three of those were to a friend. In fact, today, after the sale, I had more views in that shop that in any given day during the sale, which surprises me, as I was also promoting my shop with Etsy during the sale.

I do not know if it is because that shop sells only jewelry and the field is so saturated, or because the jewelry is not being seen, or because the jewelry is simply not attractive.

However, I am very happy with Etsy on Sale. They did everything and I like that the original prices show as stroked-through and the sale price is very prominently displayed in red. They could not return two of my items to their original price, so they posted them in my account in their site, so I can take care of them. I do not quite understand how the cost will work out, as they give you some free points, but I am happy with the service.

I will definitely try them again in a couple of months, closer to Christmas. Maybe I will have better luck then.

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

I was trying to figure out the cost. I was given 5 credits before I started my sale. I checked my account at Etsy on Sale and I now have 1 credit left. It appears that the whole event cost me 4 credits of the 5 I had been originally gifted (first sale event ever). I hope that is the case. That would be wonderful. I also found out you can buy credits. The more credits you buy, the less "per credit" you pay. For example, if you buy a pack of 10 credits you pay $10, but if you buy a pack of 100 credits, you pay $25. Credits never expire - you can use them when you need them.

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Mirry,
To answer your question - I don't know how Etsy On Sale advertises, but shoppers can go to their site & shop/search for sale items. The best part is that once you get a shopper into your store to look at a sale item, they often will look around at your other items. What I did was set up a Clearance Sale shop section, then placed the items I wanted to put on sale in that section. Then I signed up for Etsy On Sale & only checked the box for that section. Then chose the sale dates I wanted. Everything else was done automatically. It was that simple.
Maria,
My cost was the same as yours. I got 5 credits free for signing up & used 4 for this sale. Then they gave me an additional 5 credits for telling them the shop name of my referral, so I still have 6 leftover to use toward my next sale.
Also, I've heard that they do offer promotions periodically by offering extra credits for the same price, so I'll be watching for those.
Blessings to you,
♡ Jewel

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

I had used Etsy on Sale a few years back to stimulate sales during a slow period. It probably helped increase views and I did have more sales for the on sale items. I ended up buying the 100 credit option, had a few sales with them and then thing picked up in my shop and I've not touched it since. It's nice that the credits never expire.

I ended up having some challenges setting up sales, probably just me rushing through everything, but once I accidentally put the whole section on sale when I had intended to only have a small part of that section offered at sale price. I also managed to set my sale so that it ended an hour after it started- oops. Had to cancel the sale for both those accidents and lost my credits, but they were very accommodating to my request for help.

I see some shops who have weekend sales with Etsy on Sale every weekend, and it looks like that might be pretty helpful for those folks. Etsy on Sale advertises through their own website so when you host a sale all those items will appear on their website as well and under 'sale' searches through Etsy.com

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Thanks Fishcouple...it's been a real challenge to keep listing items as it is SO time consuming - especially since I have such a wide variety of items in my shop. I still have so much more to list and am just plugging along day by day and it seems to be helping with views & sales.

Thank you Joanne for sharing your experience with Etsy On Sale. You shared some interesting info that I wasn't aware of - such as your Sale items showing up under sale searches on Etsy.com. I guess that explains all the extra views & activity.

Another thing I didn't mention is that your sale can't last more than 30 days. In my opinion since the sale costs so little, why not take advantage of the full 30 days (it costs the same no matter how many days are in your sale) because they are advertising your items. My sale customers are looking around my shop and buying items that are not on sale.

Blessings to you,

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

I use EtsyOnSale as a great way to edit prices and titles in bulk when I'm running a sale. For me its a great timesaver.

However EOS is simply an editing tool and, even though your items also show up on the EOS website I've found that many people (other than Etsy sellers) don't even know about that site.

You still have to market your sale just as you market your shop.

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Thanks Crochetgal for your response. I can see how EOS would be a quick way to edit prices in bulk.
Like a lot of people, I had never heard of the EOS website. I don't market my shop...no social media either. So my sale items must be showing up on sale on Etsy.com or on EOS. They are doing the marketing for me. Although I did announce my sale in my Etsy Shop Announcement, but you have to be in my shop to read it.
Blessings to you,

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

I use it once a year for Cyber Monday and Black Friday and really like it. Even though I don't have a ton of listings, it's a huge time saver to not have to manually go in and change each title and price :)

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Sarah,
Thanks for your response. That's a great idea to use EOS to put your entire shop on sale for those 2 Biggies every year...especially since you can set up the sale in under 2 minutes.
Blessings to you,

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

I have used it for both of my shops. I like that once the listing is sold, you can't see the sale price, in the past I've marked things in percentages, and it bothers me to see it in my sales, as people will expect that certain percentage on everything at some point. I think it's worth using it, the sales end when you tell them to...

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

I've used Etsy On Sale. Mainly for the Christmas in July sale. Makes it super easy to just put the whole store or just an item or section on sale. You can also use the tag tool to bulk tag too.
Definitely simplifies the process as opposed to manually editing each listing by hand.

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Echo,
You have some great things on sale. Don't forget to add a 1 sentence blurb at the beginning of your announcement to notify your customers the dates of your sales. It will show up on Google search as well if you put it first. Also, contact/email Etsy on Sale and tell them that I referred you and we will each get 5 free credits deposited in our account toward our next sale;-)
Blessings to you,

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

I am using seller tools, it offers a lot more ways to promote your shop, than etsy on sale, and I like the way they do the sales on the items (see my shop - I have a sale going now). I think you get two weeks free or something like that, to try and see if you like it: http://jto.li/fDe7K

Re: Has Anyone Used Etsy On Sale?

Autumn,
I just googled it...the link is:
https://www.etsyonsale.com/
I had never heard of it before either until one of my Etsy friends told me about it. You get 5 free credits for signing up, then another 5 free credits if you tell them who referred you. My sale only cost 4 credits and I'm running it for 30 days. I made 39 sales in the last 21 days since my sale started - all but 2 of the sales were for full priced items in my shop.
Gayla & Al,
I've never heard of Seller Tools, took a quick peak at the site and it sounds pretty similar. Love to hear from you on the specific additional advantages that you think are above & beyond EOS. If you've read all the posts in this thread, then you know the EOS features to compare.
Blessings to you all and thanks so much for all your comments.
