Hands or no hands?

I just cannot decide if I should keep posting pictures of my earrings "in hand" or should I edit all listing and remove that picture?

I include it mainly to give a sense of scale/size, but I'm not at all sure it's helping..

Thanks for your opinions!

I think it's fine, with earrings you can't model them so it's nice to have something to give an idea of scale against a person - as long as it's not the main picture it looks fine.

Absolutely keep doing it. I always try to give not only actual measurements in my description, but a size reference using my hands. Especially as Clare says you can't model them in your ears, so something is definitely better than nothing! :)

Re: Hands or no hands?

Clare, Emma - Thanks :)

I was thinking maybe just a ruler in the last picture would be enough, and maybe it would look better and not so "down to earth" :D

Anyway, if I'm to keep hands in, I must to make those pics better too..

btw, Emma - I'm absolutely IN LOVE with your blue photos. WOW!! Stunning effect! (and amazing jewelry too)

Re: Hands or no hands?

I personally think the hand brings us back to reality too easily. Your items are beautiful and whimsical. I personally would find household items to throw in your shots. You have beautifully staged items. If you had a tipped over thimble with a stack of thread partially in the shot, or an antique ball jar with safety pins just peeking in the shot or a beautiful pen and paper blurred in the background. Those things can scale while adding to the set.... which are lovely, btw.

That is exactly what I'm worried about!!

Especially since my hand shots a basically "technical", and usually it's one shot out of one, I don't work on them..

Will try to experiment with props more.. it's quite a struggle for me. You can tell from the pics that I'm still looking for a best set/backgrounds/props..
