Google vs Etsy Search

Just looking at my stats, and it seems I get quite a few more views from google than from etsy search.... This month for example I have had 1,084 views from Etsy search, and over 1700 views from the various googles....

Wondering if this is normal? Is it a good thing to be better optimised for google than etsy? I guess it may just be that there are so many more searches done on google than etsy in total every day??

Is this a similar story in your shops??

My shop is mostly Etsy searches. Getting found in Google is great if those translate to sales. I'm convinced most of my Google hits are people who are looking to make the stuff on their own or don't want to pay handmade prices.
Usually when I get a sale I had an Etsy search with the terms that brought my item up.
Although I will say just last week I had a hit from The Find that resulted in a sale.

This is what I am thinking Laura, as I do get search results for "free bookmarks" and the like. No idea how my stuff comes up but it clearly does!

It should tell you the search terms coming in from Google in your Etsy stats (just go done further and uncheck the Etsy box. I think it might be coloring pages because that is a hugh Google search term.

Our google search views have been higher than etsy for the past 3 months. A lot of our sales come from brand new buyers that found us through google.

^ that's interesting- I get a lot of brand new etsy customers too, so maybe they are coming from google.
I need to start asking my customers how they found me!
