Google Alerts - Help?

I didn't find any other very definitive help for Google Alerts here, and I'm curious as to how it is working for the rest of you.

I signed up, posted my shop name in the box, and ....nada. Now, I know FFF isn't well known yet, and no one is searching for the shop name..but how do I set it to show searches for items in my shop?

Do I have to post the title of the item? The tags for the item? The URL? How do I use this? I'm flummoxed, and I would really like to see how people are searching for the items in my shop - improving SEO and such. Any tips?

BTW - the help section for Google Alerts is...sad. Just sad. :(

Are you using Google analytics? That gives you amazing insight into who is looking at what and when.

Google alerts will send you an email when google finds new content of you on the internet. . .Like I posted a new item the other day, then I got a google alert about it.
